I get that, but that is the tricky part of this draft. Can you get a WR that is just as good in the 2nd round as 1st or 2nd as 3rd?

Drafting a WR that high is overrated. Just wait till the 5th round or later. Lol jk

You can say that about almost any position. We got Thielen and Diggs using no better than a 5th round pick. That doesn't mean you're going to continue to hit the lottery making late round picks at that position. Unless there is someone just in a different tier available with the pick you have to take the WR early because that just became the biggest need on the team today. Even more than the O Line at this point. We have Thielen and nobody now and he's not Hopkins or Jones or Thomas who can do it through a double team every week.

Give me Ruggs, but he may go higher though. The dude is so lethal on punt returns too. I agree we need another WR because we have Thielen and nobody. Imagine if Thielen goes down for a few games, then we have less then nobody.

Lamb looks the part too, so does Jeudy. But I am sure they go high. I wouldn't mind trading up a bit (maybe high teens) to get one.

Give me the next Troy Williamson. 1st round WRs are nearly the riskest position to draft. See the article I posted on the draft thread.

It sounds like we are also trying to trade Anthony Harris. Can we pull the tag off him? I would think we would get a great comp pick for him.

Harris isn't as young as Diggs but if the Vikings deal him you can bet they get a nice return for him. They can keep him This season if they want and if he left next year they would get a comp pick then. Some team is gonna have to step up with a offer starting with a 2nd round pick plus more later picks and for the Vikings they may want even more. I'm not exactly sure what the safety market is in FA but I'd say getting a guy like Harris a very good lol around Safety may be just as valueable as a top WR like Diggs. The Vikings may also be using this as sort of a restricted FA for Harris finding him a new landing spot and contract while getting some valuable compensation. At some point though...how many picks can you expect to contribute next year? Would they sign some vet guy/s? Is this the time when Zimmer's supposed ability to coach guys up on defense (especially in the defensive backfield) actually pay off? We will see. I won't be shocked if Harris moves on but I'll believe it when I see it kinda like Diggs but for different reasons.

If we trade Harris what are we even doing this offseason? Let go Joseph, Rhodes, Diggs, Harris, possibly Griffin and Waynes and sign Kirk to an extension. We're gutting this team and extended a QB who needs a good team to be good. Those seem to be opposing ideas. Blow everything up but the mediocre QB. Makes sense.

Supposedly Griffin is coming back. FWIW I think because Griffin opted out he would figure in the comp picks they could receive.

Rhodes being gone...even as a guy defending him in season doesn't seem like a significant loss to me. It also seems like the Vikings have players that may be capable of stepping up with Linval gone.

Now if Waynes Alexander and Harris are all gone...yeah that you wonder about. Harris maybe as much as anyone. They have Sendejo and that's about it at Safety. They have some developmental CBS in Addison to guys like Hill and Boyd but nobody with experience at Safety and for some weird reason Kearse wants out.

Having said all that I think the one time during the Zimmer era they let someone go that was regretted was his first season and it was letting Kurt Coleman go. I tend to give Zimmer and that coaching staff (maybe even Spielman) the benefit of the doubt on that end of the ball.

Meanwhile the Vikings are and/or stand to get a bunch of picks. This is the type of thing the Pats are always doing. Cousins isn't Brady though but I'm interested to see how this all plays out. They weren't going to be able to keep all those defenders even if they didn't do anything with Cousins this year. In fact this year they would have had even less money to work with.

Clearly you guys don't see what is going on. Kirk waived his no-trade clause. We are trading him and we are getting Tom Brady.

Thought this post was gonna end in the Vikings signing Kyle Sloter. :)
