GS already did that. Houston is a dead man walking unless they pull a miracle off in GS. This bullshit that Houston made it a series with their last win is silly. I don't get why the media panders to the product now. When Chicago dominated they at least seemed to have the spine to not get swayed by whimsical fantasies (like Houston having any chance in this series).
As long as Houston's role players play decent they have a chance at winning the series. CP3 and Harden can match Steph and KD and Gordon on a good shooting night matches Klay. They have a shot, but their role players are gonna have to play decently for the whole series.
I think a lot more has got to go right for Houston than that. Klay and Steph had an off game, even if Curry is injured I don't see that happening again. Every level of comparison with the starters GS has the edge. If they can get a game back in GS i'll be interested. But I anticipate a 3-1 GS lead after these next two games.
I mean GS got smacked in game 2. Even if Steph and Klay show up that's still a game that Houston can win. Houston's offensive best can go toe to toe with GS's offensive best. Every game is gonna come down to who's hitting shots and GS isn't automatic every game. They've had plenty of performances like game 2 during this 4 year run. You can't stop Houston when they are hitting shots and they showed that in game 2. I think you are greatly underestimating Houston. They are a real threat.

Not sure why Doper is even watching the games it seems like it's already over in his mind. :)

I think GS will win, but if Houston goes supernova for a couple games I wouldn't be shocked if they won either. I think they are definitely capable of that and there's nothing any team can do when either of these teams get hot. You just can't guard them.

Honestly I've tailed off. At least with the 90s Bulls you knew the outcome but it wasn't because players stacked teams. The KD move has really brought a damper on the overall quality of the product for me. I've always maintained that they need to go even further with incentivising players staying with the team that drafted them. I'm all for player movement but you should have an insane advantage to offering a player the opportunity to stay. Teams aren't even given a chance to see their long term development. Could you imagine OKC had kept their squad together? The OKC GS rivalry would be insane.

Eh...Durant played in SEA/OKC for 9 years. I think the standard 9 year setup they have now between 4 years on rookie deal and 5 years on a max extension they can get is more than fair. I don't think it's fair to commit a guy to the team that drafts him for even longer especially when players have no say in who drafts them.

I get it, and he took advantage of the rules as they existed. I am fine with that, and for anyone in a free market being able to get the best opportunity. I'd just like to see the rules adapted that it is even more overwhelming that you can sign your own players (for even more money) and that a loophole wouldn't make team like Golden State be able to snag a 4th top 20 player.

It wasn't a loophole. It's literally the players associations fault the team was able to be formed. The league wanted to smooth the cap and the players wanted all the money up front. They have only their own leadership to blame. Not some CBA loophole.

The players are always going to take the most money on the table. It was the owner's job to see the new tv contract coming and be prepared for it. It wasn't that far out from the last CBA. The reality has got to be that the players are going to always get what they can, that is how Jerry West has been so successful in luring big name free agents. The owners need to get even more creative on the competitive balance and the health of small franchises. I'm not confident with all the extra money and popularity that the NBA is going to sustain it. The Spurs were a shining hope for small franchises and now they're as good as done.
It's definitely not the owner's fault that the players couldn't see two feet in front of their face and just chose the greed option. Sorry, but the owners and the league offered up the sensible approach to the cap jump and the players turned it down. There's no other way to look at it. The PA fucked up and now they get to deal with it. Everyone in their mother warned against the huge jump and they ignored it because of their own greed. At the end of the day the owners don't get to just do what they want. The players negotiate the CBA and that cap jump as well. Putting it all on the owners is ridiculous when it was the PA that shut down the proper approach to the cap jump.

I'm not denying the greed of the players. I am saying that the owners needed to anticipate that greed when negotiating the CBA, not as a side bar issue when the cap jump came. The owners couldn't see two feet in front of their face either because parity and competitive balance is really not that important to them. It is revenue and everything else is secondary.
