Something else I am thinking about as I analyze the disastrous start to this season way too early in the morning.

We talk about the loss of PatBev and Vando a lot. But is their departure a reason for Ant appearing joyless at times this season and not making the strides we were expecting? Or is it more likely the departure of Ant's best friend on the team Josh Okogie? Josh gave us little on the court, but he was (along with Prince) the mature voice of leadership in the locker room, and (my observation watching Josh interacting with Ant pre-game and on the bench) an important friend and veteran mentor for Ant. I was hoping the addition of two other mature leaders (SloMo and Rudy) might replace Okogie, but in the games I have been present at this season, I have noted no rapport between Ant and these new guys (Lip- your observations?).

Others have noted that Ant seems to be complaining more on the court this season, and displaying less the joyful enthusiasm we saw in him last season. What is the reason for this?

Is Jaden McDaniels important to the Timberwolves?

You tell me. Before the two games that he missed, the Wolves were 4th in defensive rating. In just 48 hours they dropped to 13th.

While I don't disagree we miss Jaden, I can assure you the Wolves were never 4th in defensive rating. Where are you getting your info from?

Jon krazynski's tweeted it. I don't know his source but he's one of the reliable ones

K. Doesn't make sense to me. I know it's gotten worse over the last couple games, but we weren't top 5 at any point. Either way, I agree with the larger point of missing Jaden. While he still has flaws (rebounding!), he has taken another nice step forward in his 3rd year so far. It's good to see at least one asset the front office valued actually show improvement. Everyone else is underachieving or stagnant.

I think Jon K's numbers are off. The Wolves ranked 6th defensively for the month of October. But it's been downhill ever since, even with McDaniels playing. The Wolves current defensive rating is 15th. Their rating for November is 23rd. So this team has had about the same defensive rating as last season with the exception of a limited number of games in October.

However, I agree with FNG's larger point about the positive defensive impact Jaden has and the numbers bear that out. The Wolves defensive rating the last three games without Jaden has been 27th - near the bottom of the League. So no doubt Jaden is really important to this team defensively.

Yeah, and now that I look at it, it was a retweet by Jon of some Australian guy who follows the Wolves closely. I've asked Jon where he thinks the numbers came from, so let's see what he says.

I just saw that too. I think we've been bamboozled, folks. LST didn't leave, but he re-emerged...
