Thibs is doing a great job in NY with a roster I don't like much at all. Still, I think the Wolves would be 2-4 right now if he were coaching instead of Saunders. I don't recall many memorable Thibs wins with Towns out hurt.

I agree, FNG. I think Thibs is definitely a better coach than Ryan Saunders. But our roster is fundamentally flawed and those three blow-out losses don't turn into wins with a different head coach.

Don't disagree either. In fact, even with a healthy KAT, being 2-4 right now wouldn't be THAT shocking. One could have easily circled Ws against Detroit and Washington and Ls against the LA teams, Utah, and Denver.
The real problem is that we've been blown out the last 4 games, with the three before Denver decided by the 3rd quarter. Whatever starting unit we trot out there gets easily crushed by the opposing starting unit.DLO gets the brunt of the +/- hit because he overlaps more with opposing starting units than any other player on the roster and he is incapable of carrying a team on his own - and in fact has actively harmed the team at times with ill-advised shots and lazy defense.
Ryan's answer in the last game to this? To start perhaps the worst performing player on the roster at PF in Juancho. Incredible.

Thibs can be really old-school with his barking, reliance on a short rotation, and heavy minutes for guys, but he can also be a bit of a paradox. For someone that has a reputation for old-style defense, he also has a soft spot for no-defense shot creators like Jamaal Crawford. He much preferred Jeff Teague over Ricky Rubio, even though I'd argue that ultimately was not an upgrade. And he would NEVER bench Wiggins or KAT for defensive lapses. He would hold others to a standard that he didn't enforce at all with them.
So I actually think Thibs is a bit more complicated and contradictory to the old-school caricature we often paint of him. May be he did this for very pragmatic reasons. Regardless, at the end of the day, he tends to leave places worse off than they were before. That says a lot.

Thibs career coaching record: 356-249 (.588) He has made the playoffs 6 of the 7 years he has finished the year as the coach
Teams records after Thibs 195-317 (.380) 1 playoff appearance where the bulls went 41-41 as the 8 seed while they have missed the playoffs the other 5 seasons. The Wolves had a bottom 5 record in the 1 full season after he was fired and is on his way their again.
I wouldn't appreciate Thibs as much as I do if the Wolves weren't the worst franchise ever. Thibs is turning around another terrible team and winning games with a journey man PG (Payton), late 1st PG (Quigley), A high pick who was super ineffective last year (barrett), busts in (knox and franky smokes) cast offs in (burks and bullock), a raw center (Robinson) and a guy who has been on 3 different teams, considered a good stats bad team guy and who is considered terrible on defense who is now playing All NBA level in Randle.
While the wolves are praying the can get lotto luck once again to get a top 3 pick and continue the losing culture.
I'm just a frustrated Wolves fan and sick of being ok with all this losing

I mean that is just factually incorrect. 2nd highest winning %, in the 15 full seasons since KG Thibs was apart of 3 of those seasons. He has the 1st, 3rd and T-5 best seasons in those 15 years. (He was also on pace to have to tie the 2nd best record in those 15 years but he was fired and Ryan got hired)

In case you missed it... WolvesFan does not care about facts.
We don't have a ton of trolls here... but I think he's trying to make his mark as one.

I hear you. And it was nice to actually field a competitive team that went to the playoffs FINALLY a couple years ago. But what he's demonstrated as a coach and GM is that he leaves the team worse than before.
But yeah, if you are looking to squeeze as many wins as possible out of a less-than-ideal roster, he's the guy to do it. I'd put Scott Skiles in a similar category before he wore out his welcome as an NBA head coach. Bill Musselman too many be?
