I was being a bit cheeky but look at all the young guys he's acquired or drafted-

McDaniels - Steal of the draft.
Edwards- Looking like the real deal.
Vandy- Excellent upside and defense.
Nowell- 2nd rounder proving just maybe we hit one!
JMac- Serviceable and solid.
Naz- Undrafted FA and just scored 29 points. Can't find a better UFA.

Those young guys are very promising. I just love that line from Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.

I actually watched that for the first time like a year ago. Then I watched it again about a month ago. Excellent movie.

Those aren't pillows! Love that movie

The family watches it every year at Thanksgiving

Same here, along with A Christmas Carol starring Captain Jean-Luc Picard, and Die Hard, of course!

What a game.

- I think a few folks feel good about it because a) We came back in the 2nd half to make it a game, and b) we are seeing the young guys really start to play well - Reid, Nowell, Edwards, and JaMac specifically.

- JoMac - the other "Mac" - was not good tonight in my opinion. Defensively he was getting blown by almost every single time. I still like him, but it wasn't his night on either end.

- Vando's worst game. Just got manhandled in the lane defensively and was too jumpy, putting himself constantly out of position. He can't play small-ball Center if he can't at least give some resistance in the paint.

- I figured Nowell's time would eventually come and he just needed steady minutes. We are seeing a very good SG blossom before our eyes. He's going to give us options moving forward.

- Jaden McDaniels....If that shot is falling and he slows down a bit on offense (made a couple of really bad passes tonight), he is going to be a legit 2-way hybrid forward. Okogie may want to find a new hobby.

- I'm going to give credit to Saunders for rallying this team during halftime. They came out much more engaged and sharp defensively.

- Naz's feel and touch around the hoop is pretty incredible. He's becoming a real weapon offensively. And remember, he's supposed to be our backup Center! We won't lose THAT much offensively when KAT sits. Defensively I feel like he gets absolutely murdered by the officials and the fact he's a little short for a Center limits the amount of shots he can bother when he walls up.

Overall, you gotta give Rosas props for these G-league and later draft finds. The untold story of Wolves awfulness over the past 30 years is that we miss just as much in the lower echelons of the draft and free agency as we do with the high picks. That has not been the case the last two offseasons.

I was trying to figure out what to write about the game...

And in the end, I realized it was the quintessential game for the Timberwolves. If somebody ever asks you what it's like to be a Wolves fan... show them this game.

- I spent 1/2 the game questioning myself. Why was I still watching a team that was THIS bad. A team that seemed to care about winning less than I did. But beyond reason, beyond common sense, beyond sanity... I kept watching.

- Then, when all hope seemed lost, a bunch of young promising prospects mounted a comeback. It gave me hope.

- In the end, meh. None of it matters. It's just another loss to another bad team. And the Wolves remain the league's 2nd worst team this season... and the worst of all time.

If you're going to tell a story, have a point...it makes it so much more interesting for the listener!

Not sure how bad OKC is. SGA is a legit all-star caliber shooting guard and they have some other 2nd/3rd year guys that are just plain solid. This game was really a toss-up in the end and Naz just came up a bit short in sending it to OT.

I guess I walked away from it feeling somewhat encouraged that Ant, Jaden, Nowell, and Reid all played well (as you mention above). These guys are super young AND don't have a lot of NBA reps under their belt (and yes, SGA is young too, but he has 5,300 NBA minutes under his belt).

At some point, a few of these guys are going to have some real value, whether it's helping us win more games in the future or as trade chips to go add a more established piece. I mean Jaden is becoming an absolute monster defensively. Imagine how he looks after adding 20 more lbs and getting his NBA sea legs?

Easy. I'll take the 25-year old former All-NBA player. Those first-round picks aren't guaranteed to be anything worthwhile let alone that caliber of player. They're just dart throws at the end of the day, and a lot of them will be coming in the later part of the first round.

I'll take the picks becuz if they don't work out and we lose a lot of games it will be no different than the team we have now with Kat on it. Time to shake things up. Total over haul. Which we've never really done.

While pics aren't a guarantee, Keeping Kat has guaranteed us a losing record every year except one and that was as much about Butler.

I don't know how bad OKC is either. But I do know they were SUPPOSED to be bad. They're overachieving by quite a bit.

Must be nice. When was the last time the Timberwolves overachieved? Rubio's rookie season (2012)... and even then it was only for about 40 games until the precocious PG was injured and the team ended up 26 - 40. When was the last time before then?

I think I reviewed that at some point. I think we've only finished above Vegas' projected win totals like 3 or 4 times and one was the inaugural season. Betting on the Wolves to lose has made someone money if they did it consistently.

Remember how good those 40 games were for Rubio? Dynamic, exciting, and provided a ton of optimism. The injury was a setback, but I think he was going to regain his play eventually. I've said this a number of times, but something happened when Adelman took over. Suddenly most of the flair was gone. The improvement seemed to stagnate. He wasn't always the featured ball handler. There was something Rick didn't like about him, and I really think it changed the course of his career. He's been a solid point guard but it feels like there is some unfulfilled potential there. I don't blame Rick, but he wasn't the right coach for Ricky.
