Svi looks like a realistic pick at 48.
All I know is regardless of who they pick and how they do, if they don't address their shooting problems in this draft, they failed. Period. End of story.
Yeah if they don't draft one shooter yes it's a fail. About the only way I would say it isn't is somehow the draft fell and guys were picked where basically you were reaching for a shooter over a clearly better player. That seems VERY unlikely.
Svi in the 2nd round would be awesome. I am sure some various players have upped their stock but I'd be THILLED to get him there.
We may have to talk Lip off the ledge if we draft Svi...he could be the only guy in the draft with a wingspan (6'4.75") shorter than his height! Combine that with his below average lateral speed, and I don't know who he will be able to guard in the NBA. Good shooter, but is his shooting enough to make up for his defensive and rebounding deficiencies?
If we draft svi, we might as well add 6'4.75 wingspan to his name as lip will surely bring that up every chance he gets when talking about him. :)
Yes, I will. :) As Monster suggested, I like Svi's 3-point shooting percentage. But those tiny arm of his will be a serious handicap in the NBA. I'll have to watch some videos to get a sense of his handle and the speed of his release because he'll need several tools on the offensive end to be worth the defensive disaster he's likely to be.
If he puts in effort, that automatically makes him one of the better defensive players on this team though.
Lots of guys you would expect but there were some guys that went back to school that were in the conversation as top 40 types. Looks like plenty of guys stayed in which is good for the Wolves picks.
Landry Shamet (that's the range he is in for the latest ESPN/DE mock) would be a guy I would consider taking over Svi I'd be happy taking either guy at #48. SHOOTING!!!!
Anyone have any interest in Kostas Antetokounmpo in the 2nd round?
I'm getting excited about the draft!!!! ahhhhh #optimismreigns

This might just seem like I'm sticking up for one of "my guys" but Shamet is going to be drafted much closer to pick No. 20 than he is pick No. 48, so, I wouldn't hope for him to fall that far. His shooting + handle combination is going to stand out in workouts, if it hasn't already, especially considering this isn't really a deep draft in terms of wings that can consistently create off the dribble. It's deep in terms of 3/D role player potential, but creative ball-handlers are going to be few and far between in this class.
Additionally, I have no interest in Kostas "Baby Freak" Antetokounmpo. He's all physical tools and little to no skills or feel for the game. I doubt he even gets drafted, honestly, but if he does it will be on family name and measurables alone.

Yeah, I'm surprised that the Ringer has Shamet going 46th...he's too good a shooter and ballhandler to drop that far. Case in point, nbadraft.net has him 16th! I think the Ringer devalues him because they are concerned about his defense at the next level, but I think he would get a lot of open looks with defenses concentrating on Wig, KAT and Butler...and he'll make 'em. All that said, I still lean to Thomas with the 20th pick if he's available...also a great shooter, but a better NBA body and defender. The Ringer has us taking Shake Milton with the 48th pick, and a Thomas/Milton draft would be unbelievable. But I don't see Milton dropping anywhere near that far...Utah likes him too much at 21.

I'm just going off what the espn/DE guys have and they tend to be pretty good when it comes to where guys get taken but obviously players can still move up or it just takes one team to like a guy. People keep saying this guy or that guy won't fall past....there are only so many picks and there are so many prospects that have their attractiveness to teams. The point is I feel pretty good about where the Wolves are at both spots. Hopefully we can get at least one good player. I keep saying there are going to be good players available with both picks.
I know we want 3&D guys, and I realize Kevin Huerter is likely not a D guy....but holy buckets can he shoot. Go find some video of this dude. He has well beyond NBA 3 point range on day 1. He is regularly shooting pull up 3's from 5+ feet beyond the college line....and looks smooth doing so. There are always several guys in college that shoot 3's well, but most are always right on or near line. This dude dang near just stops when he clears half court and lets it rip. And shot 42% from 3 last season. He has Kyle Korver written all over him.

Yeah, another good SG option for us at 20 along with Shamet, Thomas and Milton...this draft is shaping up really well for us. Huerter clearly has Korver-like range, although I'm not sure he has his quick release. He's better at putting the ball on the floor with both hands than Korver though, and is also more athletic. I'd have no problem with Thibs selecting Huerver, or any of the other three guys I mention above.

The buzz I've heard about Huerter is in addition to being a wing with size who can shoot he can handle the ball and operate in the pick and roll to some extent. I know every draft brings its optimism and excitement but I do feel good about our chances to get a worthwhile player.
