Khansy, I think it's actually the opposite. Folks like you and Pork thought he was an albatross, so some of us bent over backwards to defend him as a solid starting PG as opposed to THE problem with our team. TeamRicky may have been the only one that actually thought he was in an elite category.
Rubio was a very likeable player and quite popular with a lot of fans. May be you are conflating that with people thinking he was elite (?).

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought his contract was fairly team friendly for who he is, an avg PG. Does your avg Starting PG make more then him? We know Teague does.
Again, I'm not saying Ricky is the reason for win's and losses as much as any other player on the Wolves was. Is G the reason we sucked last year? Maybe people should have booed him instead. He's not exactly a great defender or good offensively. Likely below avg as far as 4/5's go. I think his extension placed him as a higher paid guy then Ricky too.
Is Utah really that great, at all? I like Gobert as a defender. Other then that, pretty much a team full of mediocre at best. I don't think anyone expects them to make the playoffs when they have no real star power.

Likeable and popular . Type of qualities you really look for in a quality starting pg in the NBA.
It doesn't matter , the teams winning now that's what's important.

I never called him an albatross nor signaled that he was one. He has flaws in his game that I don't think can be overcome in the modern NBA hence the reason I attribute the losing more to him than to others. I just don't think it's coincidence that we were bad at closing games out with Ricky for multiple years across multiple quality of teams and now that he's gone we are able to close games out at a high rate. His plus/minus numbers were being compared to elite players. His defense was being called elite. I don't think anybody thought the whole package was elite, but there were definitely parts of his game that were considered elite. At the end of the day the guys with the ball in their hands the most are responsible for wins/losses. And he somehow avoided a majority of that responsibility here when most others don't get to avoid that including his own coaches and teammates.

Rubio with a stellar 0 baskets last night as the Jazz fall again, luckily his PG instincts that help him make everyone better allowed him to will his team to hit a total of 4 shots in the 2nd half

I'm sure he was shooting the ball with the intention of handing their bigs easy put back baskets and they just failed him. He also probably perfectly setup everyone else for their shots and they missed. Don't be crazy and start blaming things on Ricky when we know it's not his fault.

Teague needs a big bounce back game against Utah Monday night to make me feel better about the PG swap. He had a disastrous (minus 23 and 6 TOs) night last night while Ricky had a near triple double (with only one TO) in a win over the Nets. I was at the game last time Ricky and Jeff went head to head, and it was a mismatch...Rubio was the far better performer. It's time for Teague to turn the tables on Monday.

I'm in the middle on this one. I like some things Rubio can do... hate other things. Same with Teague. It's why both are middle-of-the-road starters. But a closer look at Teague:
- Indecisive. I know he has a tough role with a lot of proverbial mouths to feed... but there seems to be openings and he's simply not taking them. It is the same vibe I got that season in the playoffs when Atlanta won 60 games but were throttled by the Cavs when they dared him to shoot. He eventually did... but it was all out of rhythm and you could tell he was overthinking stuff.
- Those look-ahead passes... I've mentioned them before. You expected those with Rubio. LATE in the Phoenix game, somebody broke free and Teague hesitated... and didn't make the pass for what seemed like a pretty easy layup. Instead, it became a halfcourt game... and I think that might have been the possession that ended with an off-balance 28 footer from Butler to beat the shot clock.
Summary: Stop thinking so much and be more aggressive.
