I mean he didn’t even switch onto Reeves, he was guarding thin air, leaving McDaniels trying to fight through Aytons screen. That was pathetic form a four time defensive player of the year!
Finch said postgame that the plan was not to switch. Said he regretted not doing a full switch there. Bad strategy by finch, bad hedge by Rudy and bad getting over the screen by Jaden
Finch would have to be the worst clutch time play caller in the league. Even then Gobert hedged way too high. McDaniels isn’t too blame, it was a good screen by Ayton. That’s when you should switch.
Agreed great screen by Ayton but they were told not to switch. I just think it was bad defense all around (outside of Donte)

If we play like this it will likely be a top 10 pick going to them and Utah while we will get clevelands late 1st.
I don’t think it works that way, Crazy. It’s a bilateral swap between the Wolves and Jazz. The Jazz have a separate deal that involves Cleveland. The swap deal from the Gobert trade allows Utah to swap picks with us. The Jazz have another deal that allows them to swap with Cleveland if it’s a better pick than Minnesota’s or Utah’s. So Utah gets the best of the three picks, which will undoubtedly be its own pick or the Wolves pick. If Utah takes our pick, then we get Utah’s pick and that’s the end of it. If Utah chooses to swap with the Cavs instead, then Utah gets Cleveland’s pick and we keep our pick.

Bottom line is that we’ll get our own pick or Utah’s. It’s possible that both will be lottery picks.

I couldn't believe he was that far up court
Jaden could have been tighter too, I'd say both were cooked

How do they screw this up??? He's the ONE GUY you don't want taking the last shot on the Lakers and he's a prodigous user of screens. They had to know this was coming. Even if the plan was not to switch, I agree that Rudy executed the play poorly. He had to cut-off that driving lane.

I just finished watching the replay of that last play several times. Rudy was inexcusable horrible on that play. But the I watched, the worse Jaden looks. The pick wasn’t that good. Jaden clearly hesitated on that play — looking lazy. It’s something I’ve noticed with Jaden. He showed a major lack of aggressiveness or urgency on that play - something I’ve seen too often from him when guarding on the perimeter. Sometimes I get the sense he consumes too much THC.

I think A LOT of NBA players consume A LOT of THC... and yes... Jaden McDaniels would seem to be in the mix.

Randle credits quitting (or cutting back?) on weed to a great offseason. It's paying off offensively. Still don't like his fit on the team, but you can't argue with his ability to eat innings as a scorer.

Innings eater... I like that description for Randle's game.

It has a ceiling. But, damn it if the guy doesn't produce when he's on the court.

Part of it is that it doesn't look great... but he's become a bit underrated (or maybe it's just him being the national media whipping boy seems tired at this point). So many talking heads can't resist mentioning all his foibles even when they praise him.

He may get a bad rap nationally, but some of the local pundits may be going too far the other way. Guys like Dane Moore and Kyle Thiege are saying he is going to be an all star this season. Maybe...he's been great in the first five games. And his bucket that put us ahead with ten seconds to go was clutch. We need Ant back, but it's a blessing to have a reliable #2 like Ju who also is going to lead the team in assists for the second straight year.

I wondered if TC missed an opportunity when Deandre Jordan signed with the Pelicans last week...
