I've been saying it since Randle joined the team. When we move the ball and play "real" basketball we are very good on offense. When Ant and Julius take turns running iso like they did for stints last night, it affects the game of the entire team. Jaden needs to be held accountable for last night too. I'm not talking about his numbers which weren't great, but rather his penchant to commit unnecessary fouls. We really needed him for more than 22 minutes last night, and it seemed like he almost tried to foul himself out of the game in the 2nd quarter. He plays hard all the time, almost too hard from a foul standpoint. There are certain guys in this league he can't guard without fouling and Zion is one of them. I have no idea why they even put him on Z, it doesn't work.
I agree with your assessment of our offense. Here’s my concern. Finch and TC know and agree with your point about playing to much iso ball and not playing with enough pace. They’ve both mentioned this painfully obvious reality repeatedly for over a year, yet nothing has changed. Of course, this team is not going to trade Ant. Nor should they. But TC traded for Randle knowing his tendencies. Then TC re-signed Randle last summer. This season’s February trade deadline has come and gone yet Randle is still here and the team continues to play far too slow and too much iso ball. Our head coach knows it and doesn’t like it but he apparently hasn’t been able to fix it. All of this is in addition to the team’s continuing failure to get back on defense, and stay in front of guys defensively. Maybe the addition of Ayo will change all that, but I’m not holding my breath.
