After reading you post I also though to myself that we need to find a PJ Tucker, Marcus Smart, Matt Barnes, Pat Beverly, Tony Allen type perimeter player that is just tough and will defend. If they can hit 3's or score in general it's a bonus but it's not needed too much. You don't have to spend big money or use a high draft pick to get one of those guys either. MGH has the physical profile and some Q score stats at lower levels to be one of those guys. He certainly had no problems being physical this season and his fouls per minutes show that. Amile although a big might be a Q score guy in the Taj mold. It would be nice if we drafted a perimeter guy with some toughness with one of our picks. Notice most of those tough players are basically 6'4" or less. Matt Barnes was the tallest guy I listed. Length is nice but sometimes just being able to be tough and strong is what you need...plus just playing hard and being hard to play against. We need another guy on the perimeter that's hard to play against every time he steps on the floor.
I agree, Monster. We need to add a Marcus Smart type guy to this team. How about Kris Dunn? :)

:) Sure that's one of the reasons why I liked him as a worthwhile player and Q always did too. The thing is though if we had Dunn we may not have Butler who qualifies as one of these types and is also a star player which to be honest you don't get very often.
He seems to be playing with more joy the last couple weeks. He is such a fun player to watch when he has it going. Also worth noting all this talk about attacking small guys or players that are bad matchups. Curry is not physically imposing in pretty much any way. The Cavs have gone at him some but it hasn't really yielded much. Some of that is credit to Curry for becoming stronger and his instincts. It's also a blueprint of how a guy like Tyus who doesn't blow you away physically.
Also Love played some pretty decent defense in this game. He was no embarrassing himself out there for sure.
Everytime the Cavs made a run to close the gap last night, one of the Golden State shooters would knock down a jumper. You are talking about probably three of the five greatest shooters of all time on one team. It's impossible to stop over a 7-game series.

And that's why any Western Conference team interested in winning a championship or at least getting to the NBA finals has to take a longer term view, building a team designed to begin their peak period around 3 to 4 years from now. That's the trajectory I thought the Wolves were on before Thibs traded for Butler and then capped the team out signing Gibson and Teague. The teams best positioned to eventually compete for championships 3 years down the road are the Celtics and Sixers. The Lakers could get there too if they sign Paul George and combine him with Ball, Kuzma, Ingram and Julius Randle. Obviously, Ball will have to stay healthy and improve.

It feels like some short memories here with Houston taking them to 7 game series and playing the last 2 without arguably their best all around player.
Obviously nobody is going to argue those 3 shooters are amazing and pretty unstoppable in a 7 game series. The Cavs have done enough to make me think at home they can win a game. The bad news for them is Iggy sounds like he is coming back next game and when he is on the floor that makes this team with those 3 shooters even more dangerous. He compliments those guys better is a better player than the dudes that play his minutes when he is out (it's sadly not even close) and if he starts it adds even more shooting/spacing than a non-shooter.

As long as the vet contracts for guys like Taj and Teague remain short we can be competitive for a long time if Towns and Wiggins continue to improve. If this is it for their progress then we're F-d on any plan.
