Unfortunately, we don't have any minimums other than KBD on the payroll. We did have one other. His name was Cam Reynolds. That's why I'm mystified that we released him. He was that other minimum salary that could have been added to KBD and Teague to match a first year max for Russell.

I'm operating on the assumption that Rosas and his team are not dumb. And I really don't see Rosas trading Okogie or Culver. Rosas was quoted the other day saying you don't build through free agency, but instead build through the draft. Okogie was the only Wolves players or office to come speak to us at the draft party. Culver was the guy Rosas traded up for as a close second to Garland. So I don't see Rosas trading either one. That's why I think the player the Wolves are giving up as the centerpiece of a sign-and-trade for Russell is Andrew Wiggins. I can see the Wolves including a future 2nd round pick and possibly even a future lottery-protected first. I think Teague will be dealt separately for a modest positive return - perhaps a couple second round picks.

Here's a list of the NBA teams other than the Nets that currently have enough practical cap space (subtracting player cap holds) to absorb Wiggins' $27,504,630 salary as the 3rd team in a sign-and-trade for Russell:

Knicks - $68.7M
Pelicans - $33M
Mavs - $44M
Clippers - $55M
Lakers - $29.5M
Kings - $59.2M
Sixers - $59.9M
Pacers - 33.5M

I don't see the Knicks as the 3rd team taking Wiggins because they just drafted Barrett and already have Knox, so Wiggins would be a very high-priced redundancy. And even if the Knicks might be interested, they would never deal for Wiggins until all the elite free agents they cover have signed elsewhere.

I don't see the Pelicans as potential 3rd team taking Wiggins. Griffin is too smart and the Pelicans already have Ingram.

The Lakers are focused on signing at least one if not two elite free agents. And even if they strike out on all the big names, I can't imaging LeBron signing off on trading for Wiggins. Not going to happen. As an aside, I actually think the Lakes are a likely destination for Teague if they don't land an elite free agent.

The Clippers are also focused on trying to sign one or two elite free agents, beginning with Kawhi. They second tier possibilities probably include Tobias Harris. Meanwhile, the Clippers have brought in some very good young players like Shamet and Alexander. So I just don't see the Clippers having any interest in Wiggins at his price.

The Sixers are focused on re-signing Butler and Harris. If not, I don't see the Sixers have any interest in Wiggins.

I could see the Pacers having some interest. With Oladipo out for what could be the first couple months of the season, they could certainly use a wing and more scoring punch. However, it's being reported that the Pacers are going to sign Ricky. I haven't seen a contract amount yet, but signing Ricky could leave the Paces short of the $27.5M needed to take Wiggins.

That leaves the Kings as the most likely destination for Wiggins with Indiana a distant second and the Knicks still a possibility because they're the Knicks.

I'm not saying we should do it, but I could easily see Rosas trading Okogie as part of the Russell deal. He didn't draft Okogie and just took a guy who plays the same role in Culver. Okogie would be a big get for the Nets to help cover up Kyrie on defense. A sign and trade at the end of the day hurts them more than us because they'd be taking back mediocre pieces in their cap space than being able to use it for more help for Kyrie.

Keep in mind the team that has the cap space may not be the final destination for Wiggins. Maybe another team wants him and the team with space wants a different player/s and possibly other assets which could come from both Wolves and the team that gets Wiggins. That could open up some more options but certainly not clear. I think it's obvious that we have no idea which team is looking to make this Wiggins thing happen. It will be hilarious if the wolves pay less in assets to get off Wiggins than the Suns did to move TJ Warren which is a more minor deal but kinda came out of nowhere.

If rosas trade off wig's contract and sign dlo. Il consider it a great move and start for rosas. This is coming from one of the few wig supporters left here.

I think this is the route too. Can a trade exception be used in a three team deal? Because wouldn't Memphis be the play? They could take Teague easily with few assets attached.
