2018 NBA Draft
Re: 2018 NBA Draft
Interesting reports about Dunn. I wonder if Lip has heard anything from his guy in Chicago.

Seems odd. Dunn has always been known as a guy to put forth a ton of effort. Seems like a misguided opinion....maybe some sensationalism to get people excited about Trey Young.....who looks like a bit of a bust to me. Just too small to be an anchor piece. Could certainly be a scoring PG, but will be abysmal defensively against every other PG in NBA.

Any thoughts on Donte DiVincenzo at 20? Great shooter, high basketball IQ, comes from a winning program, willing defender, and a better athlete than he's given credit for. He's got me intrigued.

It's a bit odd but Jon K reported months ago that Dunn didn't endear himself to the Wolves organization and didn't handle his time here very well. It was more than him and Thibs not seeing eye to eye on playing time etc it was others in the organization that weren't happy with how he handled himself. The writer of this article (I went to the source of the report I saw on another article) is a pretty legit guy in Chicago. I was surprised to read there was a problem with Lavine. That really seems out of character. It makes me wonder about the Bulls organization if they are having to talk to a guy like Lavine who I've never heard a bad thing about his attitude or work ethic even if he isn't a good defender. It would be interesting to see if Jon K has heard anything about the situation.
Here is the thing I find interesting about all this. The Bulls have been looking and using assets for a new PG since dealing Rose and they have added a few guys in Grant Payne (actually played some solid games last year down the stretch) and Dunn. I like Dunn but I wouldn't exactly consider him a cornerstone guy that if a no-brainer PG was available. I'm not suggesting Young is that guy but yeah plus you can play Dunn off the ball although...there is a chance he wouldn't be happy about it. The Bulls are in a good spot IMO to get a good player and they can pretty much go with BPA unless that guy is only a SG because they already have Lavine.

The way Jon K describes Thibs relationship with Dunn seemed to imply Thibs thought attitude was a huge problem with the kid. Not a good look if Two teams are looking to move on from you in two seasons. I can't help but think there are some legit demons there with his challenging upbringing although it's complete speculation and even a bit unfair.

Interesting stuff. It's just workouts but that jumper looks pretty good. I was a bit surprised at the overall skill level he seems to have. This is an interesting draft class of bigs.

I was predicting he was going to be the one to move up. When you look at the length and athleticism it's hard not to want him even if it's just for the defensive impact. He can be a Deandre who hits free throws at the least.

That's too bad about Dunn. I thought he was one of the few players we had two seasons ago that really knew how to defend with tenacity and toughness.
Re: 2018 NBA Draft
This Dunn news certainly moves the Butler trade closer to an A+. Highway robbery.

Re: 2018 NBA Draft
Just 8 days until the draft, and mostly silence from the Wolves and the local media. I'm not saying this is bad, but quite a difference from the Saunders era. I don't even know who have been here for workouts.
If a SG is our first priority, I'm quite encouraged by the talent that may be available at 20 and 48. I'm not so optimistic about Thibs' ability as a talent evaluator though based on his drafting Dunn and Patton with his first two efforts. With Shamet, Thomas and Milton all projected to be available at 20, I'm hoping he selects one of those three.
Our "bigs" situation is also potentially problematic too. Signing Belly will be difficult, Patton is an unknown, Dieng is coming off a poor season, and Gibson isn't getting any younger. If Thibs drafts a PF or C at 20, that will be a good indicator that he is not interested in signing Belly, and maybe even is thinking about moving Gorgui. The problem is I can't find a big I would be interested in drafting at 20. If Thibs takes a good Sg at 20 though, he might want to take a look at Chimezie Metu at 48...good athlete with excellent 2-way potential.
Pretty quiet here...what are you hoping for in the draft?
