Think they'd take Budinger? :D

This better be a second rounder or cash, if we give up our first I would be pissed (don't think it will happen though). Love the hire though if it happens

I have to admit I was pretty ignorant about Joergers...I thought of him as a minor league coach with some assistant coach NBA experience. I was going to ask you guys to sell me on him, but then I read the attached article. Wow! Maybe the author is his mother or something, but if it's at all accurate, I can't imagine a better coach for the Wolves at the stage they are at. A brilliant basketball mind who understands analytics and how to implement them in a practical manner, a hard-nosed defensive coach who at the same time is genuinely liked by his players, and a guy who has won everywhere he has coached. I am on board. Flip, get it done!

I was absolutely ecstatic when I read this report. I'm not sure if anyone remembers, but last fall I defended Joerger pretty strongly when everyone was discussing the post-Hollins Grizzlies. He's won and developed players at every level he's coached. He was the driving force behind Memphis becoming a top defensive team. Also, not to be overlooked, he got Memphis over 50 wins despite their best player missing 23 games, then pushed a title contender in OKC to 7 games. His adjustments throughout the series were great, and I thought they were going to upset OKC until Randolph was suspended and Conley got hurt.

In my opinion, this would be the best possible hire for the team. He's a local guy that Flip has known for a long time. Lip mentioned before he thought Flip would want a younger coach, and Joerger also fits that bill. I agree LST, let's get it done.

Has there ever been a topic that this board has agreed on more than joerger? Truly amazing to have 100% consensus from this crowd!

One item that I disagree with is that this is a done deal. I get that joeeger is from staples and might feel a connection to MSP. But it's tough to argue that the wolves are a more attractive opportunity than the cavs, and maybe we'll have competition.

Flip will move higher in my estimation if he can close this deal.

Wonder if he's been in communication (not interviewing) with Joeger the whole time and knew things were falling out. Is that tampering or just staying in touch with a colleague?

Ok, I'll play devil's advocate. Why is Memphis ok letting him walk? They fired Hollins after a great season, seemed to have found their guy in Joerger, now, allegedly, are willing to let him go for some cash?

Hmmmmmm......

Because the guy that hired Joeger got fired. Guess they want their new guy OR that displeased Joeger and started a conflict. Either way, firing Hollins after making it to the WCF and now this? I think it's fair to say Memphis has problems up top.

I will gladly take the fallout. Bring Joeger to Minnesota.

Right there with you. I don't see much difference in talent on Memphis and Minnesota and think Joeger could get us 50+ wins next year if he's our guy.
