The ESPN announcers have been positively gushing about Anthony Payne for the past 5 minutes...STOP! They're calling him a "Scott Leydon kind of guy who would fit in well on any NBA roster"...What?
Tyus Jones looks very smooth with his 4 assists in the first 7 minutes.

Do they have an office team? Do you think they would pay enough so Payne would accept a buyout? Ugh you may have roped me I to watching this game later on YouTube. Lol

We should give Woods a contract as out 15th man.
http://espn.go.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/17031564/nba-las-vegas-summer-league-grades-day-5
Christian Wood, Philadelphia 76ers: B-plus
Of the unsigned players at summer league, Wood has perhaps been the most impressive when his performance at the Utah Jazz Summer League is included. At 20, Wood continues to show major potential as a stretch 4/5.
In one sequence in the fourth quarter, he made a 3, then up-faked a defender at the line the next time down and drew a foul. Oh, and Wood also had a monster rejection of a shot before the third-quarter buzzer and made five of his seven attempts inside the arc, finishing with 22 points.
While Wood remains unpolished defensively, a team that puts in the time to develop him could end up with a productive player in time.

Jones and Payne running the pick and roll like a boss tonight! The defending Summer League Spurs go down in a crushing loss. Now I know why Duncan retired - he foresaw this embarrassment and didn't want to be around for the fall.

Heh, with Kris Dunn out, I think they were trying to get viewers pumped. I love Joel Meyers though. He's been doing SL games for a while. And their interview of LaVine was pretty damn good too.

I couldn't find the game on YouTube so I settled for highlights. They had the whole Lavine interview so that got me some real game action. It was a good time with Zach. I know I really like the kid but he is much more well spoken than he gets credit for. Myers seems to really have an affinity for him.
I didn't see this game but I thought that the Wolves have been pretty solid defensively. I know the Cavs put up a bunch of points on them but the Wolves couldn't buy a shot and the Cavs were just hitting 3's from anywhere.
I also think it seems like guys are trying to play the right way move the ball around get shots especially for SL. The problem has more been they can't hit the shots than the ones they take.
From the action I saw Payne was still Payne only toned down so he wasn't a train wreck.

Day 6 Grades
http://espn.go.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/17065793/nba-las-vegas-summer-league-grades-day-6
Adreian Payne, Minnesota Timberwolves: B-minus
This is summer league No. 3 for Payne, who has yet to live up to the expectations for him as the No. 15 pick in the 2014 draft. Before Wednesday, it had been a disappointing week for Payne, who was shooting 31.7 percent from the field. This time, he found his touch from midrange to score 20 points on 16 attempts and six free throws despite struggling at times to finish inside. With the Timberwolves adding to their frontcourt by signing Jordan Hill, Payne needs to step up to have a chance at regular minutes.
Tyus Jones, Minnesota Timberwolves: B-plus
Scouts in Las Vegas are torn on Jones. There's a lot of skepticism that he has enough size and athleticism to be a starting point guard in the NBA. Jones is always likely to struggle defensively for those reasons, and he has a tough time finishing around the hoop. But Jones' skills and decision-making give him a chance. Playing point guard full time with Kris Dunn missing a second game with a concussion, Jones had nine assists and just one turnover and made three of his six 3-point attempts (he was a less accurate 2-of-7 inside the arc).
