I'm not really a baseball/Twins fan, just a bit. All I can say from casually following them is they need an ace like the Yanks got in order to elevate their chances next season/post season. I can see that is generally what you are all posting about. I guess I posting the obvious? IDK, lol.

Yes its very obvious, but the reason why were all frustrated is they literally have to spend 38 millon dollars to match last year payroll. If they dont go out and Sign Maddison Bumgarner or Donaldson there actually most likely going to come in at lower payroll then they had last year. This is unacceptable because we been told when the window is open we will spend. The Twins had the 2nd highest increase in attendance last year and I believe Gleeman said on PA the other day said there #1 in season ticket increase.

Saying hey we tried to get Wheeler we offered him 100 million is ludcrious tell a fan base. I guess we should pat them on the shoulder they tried so hard. Well guess what it's wasn't enough. If you offer him 120 he's a twin right now. If he really your guy your targeting your going to let 3.3 million dollars per year be the reason why you dont get him??? Espically when you had 60 Million to spend this offseason. Its hard being a twins fan and this why I dont buy one second that there really intrested in Donalds which MLBTR is reporting today.

Are there any aces we could trade for?

I would throw a 1 year 40M contract at Bumgarner and see if he bites. He seems like the type of cat that would bet on himself. He could come here and have a monster season and go after big money nex year.

I see that as more of a Twins play then 3+ year contracts.

I get wanting a team to spend but 20 million over what you are willing to spend seems like a lot to me. Also I'm not buying that at most a couple hundred thousand more a year after taxes was enough To sway Wheeler to sign with the Twins. It's possible the Twins were willing to go higher than 100 million but they saw it was going to go a lot higher and Wheeler was more interested in playing for other teams so they moved on.

The Twins have thrown out some money to various players since Falvine took over. It wasn't enough but it's not like they didn't offer anyone either. I'm not saying pat them on the back but let's not say they weren't interested in spending. I don't think we should get our hopes up on Donaldson but to basically say they aren't even going to try or aren't interested isn't fair IMHO.

It's fair to have high expectations for what the Twins could do but I also think it's fair to realize it may not happen. There is a lot more than running out there with a blank check to get guys. If the Twins are a smart well run organization they will find the right talent one way or another to take the next step or utilize the resources to take that next step. I'm willing to see where this goes.

Honestly one of the things I'm almost as concerned as anything about is losing some coaches in Shelton and Rowson plus the guy that left to be a MLB pitching coach somewhere. Rowson seemed like a really good hire and Shelton was a guy that most expected wouldn't stay long. Can they keep having smart people in these positions and succeed? I think so but it's Certainly not a known.

Isn't that always been the Twins history? Pinching pennies and false promises.

My point was in tired of our Regimes name any one of them wanting a pat on the back for making an offer that wasn't even close to get the guy. At the end of the day even if it was 130 million over 5 years to make him come here thats only 6 million a year. Basically One CJ Crohn to get your bonafide Ace. You could say Wheeler hasnt proven he's an ace, but obviously the Twins viewed him as an Ace or they wouldnt gave him a 5 for 100 million dollar deal. It was same thing with Yu Darvish couple years ago. Will end up signing a Sydney Poson type and hope Wes Johnson can work his magic.

As for coaching Staff the one that hurts is Rowson, what he did with Sano and all the younger guys is truly amazing. With Shelton I'm not that worried his track record wasnt that great when he was the hitting coach with Tampa Bay. Also fun fact during th Gardy good years not one coach was ever poached from the team. The only coach that left was the Al Newman firing.

You know I respect your takes, but you're exactly the kind of fan that they're looking to fool. And you're definitely not alone because I personally know many fans that are the same way. Your ability to consistently give management and ownership the benefit of the doubt is what they are praying on. If you know a player is going to cost XX and you offer YY, that means you're not actually trying to gain his services. And this is what the Twins do so they can tell the fans that they were interested but were outbid. Real interest includes closing the deal, especially when it wouldn't take a whole lot more to do so. Minnesota has failed to do this time and time again.

To be Fair I been in this type of fan as well. This offseason is different for me though there are no excuses for them not spending. Honestly the floor was what they have done this offseason. I would say there 70% shot that they will come in with less payroll then last year. To me as a season ticket Holder thats a slap to the face to the fan base.
