I think its fair for TC to play hardball and ask for one of the LA 1sts. Getting two unprotected picks to get someone off of a contract is crazy.

I don't understand the "reworking of the pick swap bit". The pick swap is simply Utah's choice as to whether they want to swap picks -- they would take which ever one was better.

If the deal is hinging on the Wolves, does TC dare wait until after tonight's game? When something might go wrong? Or would Conely and/or Dlo be held out?

Maybe Conely will throw the game so the Wolves to help his future team!! (that was sarcasm)

Give me Russel
TC don't let me down!
Otherwise I'm joining Lip
Trade for a long in the tooth Gobert
And now Conley?
I don't see it

Meaning the wolves can add protection on the swap. If the wolves end in the bottom 5 let's say they can put a protection on they swap where they don't have to swap, etc.

It's difficult to fathom that the Minnesota Timberwolves would win 46 regular season games last year, win the play-in game, take the No. 2 seed Memphis Grizzlies to six games (and probably should have won the series), and then new management would overhaul much of that roster and future assets for a 30-year old Rudy Gobert and a 35-year old Mike Conley Jr., potentially. That is quite the development, and not a good one in my estimation.

Hard to be that excited about the state of the franchise right now to put it plainly. That's awfully sad too considering there's a 21-year old Anthony Edwards and 22-year old Jaden McDaniels ascending.

Let's see if it happens, and then what is all included before we pass judgement. But I agree, Conley isn't enough.

I sure hope this deal doesn't hinge on pick swap protections. Talk about small ball! I'm fine with the pick swap portion of the Gobert deal. At least we get a first-round pick that year. It's the three (likely four) years without a first round pick that troubles me. If TC is haggling he should be holding out for picks to replace one or more of the ones we've lost, not a better swap in 2026.

WOW, at least Kahn doesn't have to wear "the worst GM" title anymore.

Never trade for a 7 footer on the wrong side of 30. Check
The team gettting the best player wins the trade. Check
Teams in cold climates need to build through the draft. Check

This new GM is on a roll. It's almost as if they are setting the community up for a move.

It's interesting that the Lakers have held out on those future Firsts up to this point in previous iterations with the Jazz taking on Westbrook but now with DLo in the mix they are in play. That tells me that at least one should be coming to Minny. Those picks have been highly sought after by many teams. If that is the valuation for DLo I'm not mad about that. One or both of those picks would be good ammo for another move down the road when the point guard market is different\better.
