Man, what a cluster*&ck the Nets have been since they got Kyrie and KD. So much talent, but also so much drama. They had such a fun team the year before they got those two. I get that you should do whatever you can to acquire star talent when they are still in their prime, but man, when the talent you are adding is a couple sulky, disgruntled, and unpredictable personalities, that's a hell of a risk to take.
That's right, Drew. Building teams the way the Nets attempted is alway fraught. It worked for Miami with LeBron and Bosh, but Wade was already there and, even then, it only lasted a few. years. It obviously hasn't panned out as intended for the Lakers. So it can work, but it's dicey. And if you pursue great players who are weak in the character department you end up like the Nets. Very different from LeBron, Bosh and Wade - none of them whiny, lazy or selfish or weird.
Obviously, this isn't ending well for the Nets, although can quickly start developing a foundation for a rebuild if they make the right deal for Durant and then deal both Kyrie and Simmons. Meanwhile, this is going to end very well for the Suns. They'll swap Ayton and lots of picks for Durant. Then, barring serious injury, they'll probably win the NBA championship next year.
