He didn't draft Okogie and just took a guy who plays the same role in Culver. Okogie would be a big get for the Nets to help cover up Kyrie on defense. A sign and trade at the end of the day hurts them more than us because they'd be taking back mediocre pieces in their cap space than being able to use it for more help for Kyrie.
The sign-and-trade will include a third team. The Nets will not be receiving incoming salary.
I think this is the route too. Can a trade exception be used in a three team deal? Because wouldn't Memphis be the play? They could take Teague easily with few assets attached.
It can't. Only picks and that specific player

Wolfson is talking like Redick is linked to Russell and that they might be meeting him too... could Rosas end up with him too?
I'm tacky looking forward to seeing how this all plays out lol

Yes, the rumors out there are we are trading Wiggins for more than just cap space, DLO is coming (I am guessing whatever we are getting for Wiggins is going to them) and some other FA but no one knows exactly who the other person is - It easily could be Riddick. Rosa and Towns are causing a stir, enough that players in the league are taking notice and talking. One thing is for sure - Wiggins is traded - he didn't remove all references to our entire state for no reason.
To get anyone else after Russel we will need to more Teague and/or Dieng - I could see Rosa waiting to trade Teague until later for several reasons. If someone signs Jones to a ridiculous contract we will need another PG. Teague was very vocal about playing time under the troll - I could see him taking a more highly capable 2nd unit leader / the first guy off the bench kind of role - until the right trade comes along.
I would attach a protected 1st to Dieng and try and sign Riddick or someone like him for whatever we have left. Maybe Jones is attached to make a bit more room and do some form of a sign and trade. That would leave us with Teague as a great trading asset later and serve an important role if he is not moved.
Russel (max)
Okogie
Culver
Covington
Towns
This is a flexible starting unit with room to add a good vet at any position and bumping either Okogie or Culver to the bench - Rosa obviously values all 4 of these guys on our roster right now.
I realize we all probably need counseling from the trauma of the horrific management of this team over the past 20 years - but Rosa sure feels so much different - like he knows what he is doing. There is still lots of hand wringing going on in here.

I can't imagine starting Okogie over Culver, but I honestly don't think either will be starting to begin the season.

If Wiggins is traded then who do you see the Wolves bringing in as a free agent or via trade to as our new starting wing?

Fair lol, but this involved other info external to him too. Reddick's podcast, them sharing the same agency, etc. It's at least plausible.
PS: he also said Ricky was plan B for the Wolves who were working on a big presentation, but were given indications Ricky was heading elsewhere.

So far so good. But we don't have any results yet. Let's not forget that things started off well with David Kahn when he traded Randy Foye to Washington for the 6th pick in the draft, giving us the 5th and 6th picks that summer. Then Kahn drafted Rubio and the entire state was celebrating. But a few minutes later Kahn threw cold water on the celebration by drafting Flynn. Things proceeded to go down hill from there, although there was a buzz the next summer when Kahn was courting David Lee, only to see Lee go elsewhere.
I'm not suggesting that Rosas is another David Kahn. I don't think he is. But it's interesting how low we've all been brought over the years - to the point where we get excited by news that the Wolves front office appears to be fully engaged pursuing deals. As Wolves fans we should know by now to temper our enthusiasm. :)
By the way, I would not give up a future first round pick to get rid of Gorgui. I would only give up a future 1st if necessary to sign Russell. As Rosas has said, he's building for the long haul. Getting Russell and teaming him with KAT gives us a dual allstar core. Either Okogie or Culver could become a 3rd allstar caliber player. Meanwhile, we have a very good veteran starter in Covington. Fill in some pieces with lower priced free agents and this team is competitive in the shot run with contender potential in the longer run. This is no time to go crazy getting rid of players. One more season with Gorgui and he'll be an expiring contract and easier to trade. Meanwhile, it's not a if he's a complete stiff. Teague is very tradable this summer and if not traded he comes off the books next summer. Our front office needs to be calm and smart, taking the long view. That means continuing to aggressively pursue Russell for the long haul without acting precipitously to be as good as we can be this upcoming season.

Don't forget the Lakers. I think they're our more formidable competition for Russell assuming they don't sign Kawhi or Butler. And I still don't think they'll sign either one of those two. I Russell wants to maximize his chances of winning, then the Lakers are the obvious choice. The Suns and Wolves are on Russell's short list because both teams have one of his best friends on their rosters. The Suns have the added appeal of great winter weather in contrast to Minnesota having one of the worst. But the Wolves are, I think, closer to becoming a contender. I don't see Russell signing with the Knicks.
