I would have loved Deng, in fact I signed on to say we should have offered 20/year to get him, that is the going rate these days. Then I read LST's post, four years screws up developing and signing our core to their own ridiculous deals. The deal Evan Turner got is a joke.

I would have considered 18mil per for 2 seasons, but 4 is too much.

Ouch...my first choice in free agency. But I agree 100%...4 years is too much. This signals to me that the Wolves completely understand the implications of a 4-year deal this summer to signing their Big 3...they simply can't offer a 4-year deal this summer if they expect our youngsters to reach their potential and hope to keep them all.

I'm disappointed and encouraged at the same time...encouraged, because this is another indication that this management team gets it. Now, who becomes my first choice to come in as our starting SF on a deal no longer than 3 years? Any ideas for me?

Deng would have been a nice fit here.

Would Mahinmi take a 3 year deal?

Yeah, that's too long. Dudley's 3year/30mil deal looks even better now.

Dudley was the FA I wanted most. He's been a consistently terrific 3-point shooter his entire career and has nice size at SF. He also accepts being a backup. I thought the deal he got was reasonably under the new cap.

Thibs had a long talk with Pau last night. It sure would be nice to win one of these FA bidding wars! At least Pau should not demand a 4 year deal!

Pau is a great fit. I don't care about the money amount, it isn't my money, but no more than 2 years. I'm not adverse to sitting this whole thing out either.

I'm the only one shocked at the Conley deal?

I don't think he is worth that money, but I knew he would get top dollar. Only free agent worth that money is Durant. I guess Memphis didn't have a choice.

The Conley deal is absurd, but they did what they had to do to keep a competitive team together. Give Memphis credit - they have been very good for a nice long stretch of years in a small, unsexy market. Adding Parsons to the mix as well means they aren't going away anytime soon. Dammit. These teams we say will eventually fizzle out in the West always find a way to re-tool and stay good. Dallas is another team that always figures out a way to patch together a competitive squad.
