Some of this talk about Dunn and staying in school or guys coming out early reminds me of a couple weeks ago gen Jim Peterson was on the Dunked on podcast. Both Jim and the host Nate said (admitted) they love the NBA and aren't college basketball fans at all. I thought this was particularly funny since Jim's step son plays for Northwestern. Anyway Jim said he thinks because the college game really is very different than the NBA he thinks many guys don't benefit from more than a year or 2 of college. He said they would be better off developing in an NBA environment. He actually mentioned Kris Dunn and how he hasn't had those reps against the size and athletic ability in the NBA. He said in addition the decision making in the NBA is very different. The host (I think his name is Nate) mentioned some worthwhile thoughts on the roster makeup of the providence team that Jim agreed with. Maybe it's too much of a homer breakdown for a few reasons but Inactually thought some of Jim's thoughts have some more weight since he is around the team so much and coaches for the Lynx. In general there was plenty of good thoughts in that podcast.

Khans, You have always been a stout defender of our rookies, regardless of their performance. You were adamant that we were judging Anthony Bennett and Adreian Payne too early, yet many of their most vocal critics on here were absolutely right based on what they saw from these guys early on.
For every Draymond Green, there is at least two Adreian Paynes. Heck, look at our own sordid track record with players we drafted with at least two years of college experience: Wes Johnson, Johnny Flynn, Randy Foye, Derrick Williams, Corey Brewer, Rashad McCants.....the list goes on. And that's just one team!
I'm a Kris Dunn fan. And I really hope his shooting and b-ball IQ offensively eventually come around. But I can see why folks like Bleed might be pretty disappointed in him. There is no guarantee he will improve a bunch.

I'm a stout defender of all rookies who struggle because it's ridiculous to make any judgments on whether they were a bad pick based on 42 games. Lavine was the worst player in the NBA halfway through his rookie year and look at him now. I just don't get how a guy who doesn't play a ton and doesn't play selfishly in the time he does play can be a disappointment. Unless bleed was expecting him to surpass Ricky already as the starter (which was too high of an expectation to have to begin with) I don't know what Dunn could have really done to this point in 17 minutes a game to show he was a great pick. Expecting an NBA rookie to supplant a 6 year vet 42 games in is just a bad expectation. What can Dunn realistically be doing in 17 minutes a night to not be a disappointment to you guys? He's already showing to be a great defender and he has an extremely low 15.2% usage rate. If you want him to show more you have to let him finish more possessions and they aren't letting him do that right now.

Khans, I don't think Bleed was suggesting Dunn should have been able to step right in for Rubio as a starter.
As for Dunn's production, perhaps he'd get more opportunities if he didn't dribble it off his foot or throw it into the stands so much! He has less than a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio and when he does shoot, it hardly ever goes in. He also has played the 6th most minutes on our team and has a very regular role in the rotation. He's had plenty of opportunities to perform. You make it sound like he's been buried deep on the bench!
Let's hope he does some good things tonight, because we'll need it!

I have 14 year olds with a better offensive game than Dunn. Doesn't mean he can't become a very good player, just sayin............

He went back and basically the same or worse his senior year. Not the type of development you want to see.

Bleed, whom you would have drafted instead of Dunn? It seems that most of players in last draft have been pretty bad. Jamal Murray and Buddy Hield are shooting below 40% even though shooting was supposed to be their strength. Like Monster wrote in some thread, 2nd round draft choice Malcolm Brogdon has been the most impressive and productive rookie so far with 9.3pts and 4 assists averages in 25 minutes.
This draft class looks pretty similar than 2013 year looked after rookie season. From top prospects only Oladipo and Carter-Williams impressed but they played in really bad Orlando and Philly teams. Now three years later it looks like there was quite many really good players. Greek Freak, Gobert, McCollum, Otto Porter and Schroder all look now better than either Oladipo or Carter-Williams. I think that quite many players of 2016 draft class will in the end turn quite fine even tough their rookie seasons weren't that good and I haven't yet lost faith that Dunn couldn't be among that group.

I was leaning Murray. I didn't want Dunn to be an option. I liked Bender and Chriss too. Hield concerned me. Murray had a great game against and will be fine. I feel Dunn is always going to struggle on offense. I hope he can become that shut down guard on the bench you bring out as if someone gets hot.
They guy I really liked but wanted to trade down for was Sabonis. I thought he looked perfect for this team.

It's begun with this.
https://twitter.com/espnsteinline/status/827234781666693121
"Story with @WindhorstESPN: Milwaukee has reached an agreement in principle to trade Miles Plumlee to Charlotte for Roy Hibbert/Spencer Hawes"
Milwaukee dumps Plumblee's contract so it's a win for them since they have some other young bigs. Charlotte gets a center that probably fits better than the guys they shipped out. It is still overpaid.
