All you have to do is compare the Trump and Biden press conferences. It really is ridiculous how the activists in the media flipped the switch after the inauguration. Trump faced a steady diet of "gotcha" questions, whereas Biden gets nothing but softballs thrown his way. "How is your dog Joe?". And then there is the list of things Joe won't talk about that the media is made aware of before the conference. Fox has one guy who attempts to make him answer real questions, but he's easily subdued and overwhelmed by the rest. The dems and their media allies have this thing under control.

Trump made his own bed with the media. He made them public enemy #1. It was an interesting strategy not letting them have the same access and constantly going after them. Past presidents and the current seem to use it as a tool.

I do think the media has gone soft on Biden. It should look more into his mental health and Hunter's dealings.

Trump didn't give me the same concern. Trump was a no-filter mess. He seemed like the same guy he had been for decades. Biden has shown some red flags and it gives you pause. He is not the guy he was even 4 years ago. Go back and look at debates. It is obvious.

We shouldn't have presidents this old in office. I doubt either will be candidates in 2024.

Due to the new Delta variant, California will be mailing in ballots for the Newsome recall election. What a shock. You can't make this shit up. The corruption and lies are so obvious, I hope people can see this.

The age thing is an interesting one.

Both Trump and Biden are OLD. Us plebeians are often pushed out the door in our 60s... yet here we are... with arguably the top gig in the world at stake... and we had a 77 year old battling a 74 year old.

Both make gaffes... to various degrees. Neither is at the top of his game, regardless of what they tell us or their legions tell us. Talk to any "normal" 74 or 77 year old... and they'll be the first to tell you that they're not as sharp as they used to be.

Biden is old. He makes mistakes. And it's been a rallying cry for opponents, so we're going to keep hearing about it every time. In fact, I'd heard SO MUCH about how senile he was that it was rather surprising that he made it through the campaign trail and a couple of debates. Heck, the lowered expectations probably helped him. "Yeah, he's old and stammers and seems confused at times... but he wasn't nearly as bad as they said he was."

Biden has struggled to even put a coherent sentence/thought together at times. Personally, I struggled to follow what Trump was saying a lot of times, too. On closer look, there was literally nothing there. Was it senility? Probably not, but it was a departure of what we once expected from presidents. Either way, we're in a steady decline.

Bottom line -- it's weird how basically the only jobs where super duper old people are actually able to succeed are the three branches of government.

There were times Trump had a hard time making any cognitive sense. He is the guy that bragged about how smart he was passing the same dementia test people are calling for Biden to take which I think is fair for him to take and the results shared publicly. I haven't spent a lot of time watching Biden's press conferences. I didn't go out of my way to watch Trump's press conference's but often did to see if the criticism that I heard was fair. There was a number of times I watched the press conference and didn't think the general criticism that sent me there was fair.

Yes we should be able to to find more competent candidates than folks this old although some people of that age can be very sharper mentally. I'd guess

Abe, I found the same thing with Biden. The fine folks at Fox news and other trolling conservative outlets would basically isolate any clip of him where he was stammering or lost his cool and derided him for his senility (and yes, this type of tactic is no different than the fine folks at the liberal outlets that would parse through any of Trump's statements and blow it up into the biggest controversy in the history of civilization). Then I saw Biden in a couple of the debates and he seemed mostly coherent throughout the whole thing.

Having said that, I do think Trump's "mental" issues were more related to his extreme narcissism and not any material loss of mental acuity. Biden on the other hand really has slipped a bit - just not as bad as his critics make it out to be - but he could be on the front end of a more severe mental decline....

Quite possibly. He has a history as a bit of a goofy guy who makes more verbal mistakes than most... even when he was 20 years younger. His team's plan to keep him mostly under wraps seems like a wise one. Avoid anything too negative as tens of million of people were desperate for anything different from the previous regime.

As for having a president with declining mental acuity, it's not exactly unprecedented. I think Reagan's decline is well documented now... I don't remember how much of an issue it was at the time though.
