Re: Here comes the chatter!
Does Danny hand out favors to other GM's? The best advice for any GM is to avoid Danny as he tends to win large when he wins trades. Wouldn't shock me if Danny gets two 1st's from LA setting up a massive slew of picks for the future and MN getting Conley and a few 2nd's. LA becomes meaningful by adding DLO, Beasley & V8. The added benefit is buyout saving cap move for Danny and not having Conley's money on the books next year to make even more moves.
I'll hold back judgement until something happens but at best I think MN gets just slightly better or maybe even worse and has to hope Conley performs up to contract next year.

That is quite the development, and not a good one in my estimation.
Hard to be that excited about the state of the franchise right now to put it plainly. That's awfully sad too considering there's a 21-year old Anthony Edwards and 22-year old Jaden McDaniels ascending.
Spot on, Cam. I agree with Cool that we'll have to see the final result of any such deal before rendering any final judgment. But based on what's been reported so far I'm concerned.

I'm a big Dlo fan but I like the idea of ending up with Conley for him. Better team fit. But I'd like to end up with either Vanderbilt or one of the two LA firsts in the deal.

"Better team fit" seems to be a theme here, but based on what? What exactly makes Mike Conley Jr. a better fit?

I don't believe we can acquire Vando (or Beasley and Beverley) by trade until after the season as we traded them last off season.

ESPN Breaking: The Lakers are finalizing deal to land D'Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt.
The Jazz will send Mike Conley and picks to the Timberwolves, while Russell Westbrook and a lightly protected 2027 LA first-round pick head to the Jazz, sources tell @wojespn.

Woj -- Also in deal: Juan Toscano-Anderson and Damian Jones to Jazz, Nickeil Alexander-Walker to the Timberwolves, sources said.
Minnesota gets 2024 lesser of Washington-Memphis second round pick and 2025 and 2026 second-round picks via Utah, sources tell ESPN.

I'm assuming the better fit angle is about the Utah connection. TC made his commitment to Gobert and up to this moment, that deal looks like shit. He's probably trying to surround Gobert with guys who he thinks will make Gobert better. Gobert and Conley had success in Utah. DLO is a better player overall (again, I'm a VORP guy - but that is true by most metrics). We can assume there is other compensation coming back our way (or at least we can hope)

Minnesota traded 26-year old D'Angelo Russell for 35-year old Mike Conley Jr., Nickeil Alexander-Walker, a 2024 second-round pick, 2025 second-round pick, and a 2026-second pick.
Meh. Minnesota got the losing side here (shocker). Los Angeles just got much more dangerous because of this trade too. Double whammy.

One thing we thought would develop is a Dlo/Gobert connection, and it just has not happened as most of would have hoped. We can argue where blame belongs -- Finch, Gobert, Dlo, everyone else -- but it just has not happened. Conley is not as "loose" with ball and thus less turnovers. And there are defensive metrics that lean in favor of Conley.
