The first part was a discussion of the Finals. Flip was pretty adamant that Love would have prevented the Warriors from going small. And he thought LeBron was just too worn out after the first four games.

Not to be a downer, but some of the draft talk had Flip talking about deciding if a players positives out-weigh their negatives, or at least projected negatives. He talked about evaluating if a player has a skill that is top-5, top-10, top-20, etc. in the league and what that may do for your team. And how a player meshes with your roster is important as well.

There was a discussion on the likelihood of acquiring another first round pick. Flip couldn't put percentages on it, but did say he didn't believe they had the assets to move into the top 18. He said they identify the player(s) they might be willing to move up for, but once you get much past 18, maybe that player will make it to you at 31...

So, no big news, but I always find it entertaining to listen to Flip talk about the Wolves!

That has Okafor written all over it! Ryan has failed miserably!

Kittens will no longer be cute, Mother Theresa was a mobster, and we're all going to die!

I thought that did sound like Okafor also. I will say this thought Flip has looked at numbers in the past and Towns had some pretty impressive defensive numbers in limited action. Don't discount that Flip could see Towns as an elite defensive player down the road. Hell he gushed about Lavine's defensive potential after drafting him. I won't be surprised if we do take Towns Flip talks about how he is not just some all around guy but he has high potential in a number of areas. The continuous mention of fitting in with the other players screams Towns.

Also just to confirm Tim's cliff notes were dead on. Well done.

Edit:

One other note that was a little interesting from Flip was he said there were some guys they had planned to target in the 2nd round range and after they went through some workouts and the process there were some of those guys that have fallen away.

Q - on the opTIMistic side, when Flip says "do the positives outweigh the negatives", how do you apply that to Towns? I mean, there are no negatives, right? The one brought up the most is "minutes played", but that is easily explained when you look at the depth and seniority of the Kentucky front court. There weren't enough minutes for anyone!

Anyone else love the fact that Towns is working out for the Wolves and likely not for the Lakers? Obviously he has every reason to want to be the #1 pick and a move like that solidifies this, but it's nice to see him focusing on the mid-market Wolves over the Lakers (a team that I think needs new leadership before they'll be a contender again).

Jon Krawczynski ?@APkrawczynski
Karl-Anthony Towns has finished his workout with the Timberwolves. No surprise, but sounds like it went very well.

Analysis: Towns in his own class in this draft:

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft2015/insider/story/_/id/13107246/nba-draft-how-pros-do-ranking-prospects-tiers

I think the drama is coming to a close on all this speculation. The Wolves will select Karl-Anthony Towns with the first pick next Thursday.
