Would not have mattered. Still a great trade.
We sure? Julius Randle has tanked two seasons of wolves basketball, so now the hopes are all pinned on Beringer working out while KAT likely heads to an NBA finals.
I understand his contact was ridiculous and they had to get off it but Randle killed this team
I want to say I’m a Kat defender but there is a lot of revisionist history with him. He shot 23% in the first 3 games of the WCF, causing us to lose all 3 games.

Not trading Kat means no Randle, Donte or Beringer (and any assets they get in future trades). Also means Naz is also gone because they could not resign him and not be in the second apron.

There were rumors that the Knicks were shopping Kat at the deadline and he is a hard trade because of the apron era. Now Kat has been great against 2 bad teams in the playoffs.

I hope he wins the title but Kat also no showed big games like Randle has and they would be in significant more cap hell
I know you're right but there is no denying that the trade looks completely idiotic now.

If they swing Randle for real assets and Beringer looks great next year than the optic change.

Matt seems to be correct, the extension was a major mistake.

Yup. They have checked out.

Unlike the “status quo” last offseason, this offseason ought to be quite active.
My concern is the window might be shut. That Dallas season was their chance
Their chance was being patient. Connelly inherited Ant, Jaden and KAT and a full fleet of draft picks and plenty of capspace but Connelly was reckless in trying to move up the timeline. That douchebag fkked this franchise up for the foreseeable future. i hate Connelly like I hated Kahn and Thibs. They all three should rot. Funny, I ripped Rosas for the dumbass DLO trade which was really stupid but he's been the Wolves best GM by far bringing in Ant and Jaden.

The problem wasn't trading for Randle, because it was the salary match that mattered. The problem was resigning him. Worst case he would have opted in to his team option this season and at least we could have cut ties with him this off season. Now we are potentially stuck with him for another two seasons.
I will wait until on my opinion on the resigning based on what they trade him for. Because just letting him walk did not allow us to sign another player and in my opinion Randle as a 33 million salary filler is better than no player and not that contract

Still disagree. Does Kat change any result any of these last 2 playoff series

Also not resigning Randle does not mean we could sign another player. That contract as salary filler is better than a min contract in my opinion. (Subject to change if they have to attach assets to Randle)

I know Connelly won't fire himself (though someone should) but he better have the balls to get rid of Randle and fire Finch. I don't think he'll do either as I think Timmy Connelly is a big pussy.

Of course we'd have to attach assets to dump Randle's contract. That' a bad contract and I said so last offseason.

Probably not but for what it's worth I think KAT is a significantly better player than Randle

Abe's Last DVR Review of the Season DVR Review:

- 90 seconds in... Randle just stood at the top of the key. Spurs player sneaked in and grabbed the rebound. Randle fouled him in a "fake hustle" play.

- 2:30 in... Edwards drives, gets fouled between the foul line and block... but he doesn't shoot it. Side out of bounds. That's two points left on the court. And it illustrates the difference between Edwards and stars like SGA and others. HE MUST LEARN TO EMBELLISH. (Ethical hoops is for losers.)

- Castle gets a dunk because Randle doesn't switch the PnR.

- Wolves put Gobert on Castle... well... whoops. Nothing working in this game from the coaches to the players.

- Spurs get an and-one layup after Randle bungles the PnR again... leaving a wide open lane.

- Naz Reid. I can't imagine the Wolves coming back in this one... but if they do... thank you Naz Reid. He's the only guy playing remotely hard and it shows with 8 quick points.

- Conley knocked the ball off Harper. Then, comes right back and hits a three. The remarkable thing with the three was that I swear he hesitated for just a split second after catching it and before shooting. Almost like one deep breath. It's like he knew that could be his last NBA bucket so don't miss it. Cool moment.

- Castle just overpowered Ant in the post. Whoa. WOE.

- Ok. This is where I couldn't keep up. The Wolves seemed to make some sort of mistake on 2 out of every 3 trips for a very long spell. A missed boxout. A silly pass. A lost rotation. A bumbled rebound. And the Spurs are relentless on the other end.

- Much like the play earlier... Randle is at the top of the key area and just stands there as the Spurs cut in front of him for the long loose ball rebound. Ends up with a three pointer out of it.

- Randle and Edwards just quit on the court with about 9 minutes left.

- I have not been an incessant Randle basher... but my god... is that the worst playoff effort in NBA history? Just a brutal series... and he just kept getting worse. I don't see any way that Randle plays another game in Minnesota. Just brutal.

- For those wanting change (sans coach), get ready. This team is going to look different next season. I'm guessing that both Gobert and Randle are gone. I just don't know what they're getting back for either of them.

- Rough week for Minnesota sports fans. Which is worse? A choke job after being up 3 - 0... or whatever this is?
