As a man of faith I don't believe people are born into the wrong body or sex. I think God makes you exactly as who you're meant to be. Because every hair on your head is counted and every detail that goes into your makeup is perfectly arranged, I have a hard time believing that he swung and missed on assigning one's sex. It just saddens me that in a lot of cases the mental symptoms receive the care and the root cause is ignored or not even sought. I used to suffer from panic attacks related to an anxiety disorder. I'm grateful the solution wasn't just to medicate me or remove the part of my brain responsible. Instead therapy helped identify the factors that contributed to the attacks and I was given tools to help control the issue. It's been decades since I've experienced an episode.

Get kids and young adults the proper help instead of affirming their current feelings to them. Growing up is hard, harder for some than others. No adolescent should be told they are actually existing in the wrong body. Their brain is still developing and emotional development is not linear. I feel for the kids of today, things seemed a lot simpler when I was growing up.

That's a very good question Monster and I'm not sure. I know some gays are not born that way, but I'm not sure about the entire community. What do you think?

I think we need to just start calling a loss at home to a poor team a "Cheryl". I'd rather the Lynx play at the defending champs than face a poor team at home.

They are 8-3 at home against the non playoff teams this year. And one of those were the Sky at the beginning of the year when they were solid with Jackson and Diggins playing and one loss with without Olivia or Phee.

I would say the Lynx rarely have these stinkers

Idk it seems neither one of us is willing to speak to each and everyone's experience. I'll share where I'm coming from on this subject. When I was in my 20's I came to the conclusion that some people were born gay. I grew up very religious and went to religious schools for basically my entire education except a class here and there for college. A had a few friends that came from seemingly excellent families no real signs of any crazy trauma or issues. Obviously I wasn't with them for every part of their lives so I don't know for sure but yeah. Many of them were pastor's kids or a parent worked for the church in some significant capacity. Because of that they certainly didn't want to be gay and had no reason to want to be and did all the things to try not to follow that path. None of them were rebelling wanting to leave the church etc. There was simply no reason for them to choose that. Now a few of them because they are gay and would not be fully accepted in their religious community they have moved on either to other church affiliation or not really a part of any faith in terms of going to church etc. a few of them are married to a same sex partner and have been in that relationship for quite a while

I share that because I do know that some folks with backgrounds like us are not willing to say that someone is born to be gay. I just don't see a rational reason why many people would make that decision. It just doesn't make sense.

I appreciate the conversation about these topics. They are not easy to talk about. At times there are things that come up during conversations like this that people have been pondering for many years before I was alive and I'm not old but I'm definitely not young anymore.

As someone that grew up in a Christian faith I get the concept that God is involved in each person's life in a significant way. This is gonna bring up various things people wrestle with but I'm not sure I can be ok with the idea that each person was born exactly how God planned for them. Someone with Cerebral Palsy that was God's plan? To me there either has to be some sort of realization that there is not perfection at birth. What we do with that is definitely not easy to decide.

I tend to see finding ways to accept people is what I strive to do and I'm definitely not always successful. Society is also difficult and right now it feels like in some ways things are more polarized than ever although I think we all would agree that some of that is perception of social media etc. Some of it is real though. I wish there was more of the back and forth discussion like we have had in this thread.

That's a lot of rambling and maybe more than was needed and I may have not cleaned out all my thoughts as well as I should have but you may also not want to read that kind of essay. Lol

Going semi off topic:

I think the WNBA has lost its way a bit. It has a lot of potential, and I think some of that potential is being squandered.

A lot of my views come back to one basic principle: people should have the freedom to live as they choose, but freedom should come with responsibility. I don't want my choices to become someone else's burden, and I don't think someone else's choices should automatically become mine.

1. I support people living however they choose, as long as their choices don't infringe on the rights of others. That standard should apply equally to everyone.
2. We're all imperfect. We have different strengths, weaknesses, advantages, and disadvantages. Life will never produce perfectly equal outcomes, and I don't think every difference in outcome needs to be corrected by government.
3. Who someone is attracted to is their personal business. It shouldn't change how we treat them, positively or negatively.
4. I believe biological sex is real and relevant in some situations, while gender describes identity and how someone sees or presents themselves. People should be free to live as they choose, but biological sex still matters in areas such as women's sports and private spaces. Protecting one person's freedom shouldn't require taking away another person's fairness, privacy, or opportunity.
5. Adults should generally be free to make their own medical and lifestyle choices. But freedom also means accepting responsibility for those choices. I don't expect others to carry the consequences of mine, and I don't think I should automatically be expected to carry theirs through mandates, taxes, insurance requirements, or public policy.
6. I think government's primary role should be providing the basic framework that allows individuals and society to function. Government has an important role, but there is a point where involvement becomes excessive, and I think we've crossed that line in some areas.
7. I think families, communities, charities, churches, nonprofits, and individuals should play a much larger role in helping people. If you're passionate about an issue, put that energy into volunteering, donating, organizing, or building solutions that actually help people. I respect activism, but I don't think every cause should become a government program, mandate, or financial obligation placed on everyone else.

JFK said it well: “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”

I think we could use more of that mindset today. Not less compassion, but more personal responsibility, contribution, and willingness to help each other directly instead of automatically looking to government.

Ultimately, I believe in freedom, personal responsibility, and treating people fairly. Live your life, let others live theirs, help where you can, and don't make your choices someone else's burden.

For as much talent as the Lynx have, 3 losses at home to the teams they've lost to is more than surprising. And it carries on a tradition from past years also. Kek, they simply don't always bring their best effort to these contests. But by the same token they win a lot of road games they probably shouldn't.

Was at the Lynx game today. Lower bowl was sold out and upper bowl was mostly full. Lynx win I think convincingly over the Aces in my opinion. Have not seen Aja get shut down like that in awhile
