Does his off the court stuff bother you?

Uh oh, I didn't hear about that. What was it? Please tell me it's something benign.

1st and probably biggest - felony vandalism

This one goes into better detail about it even though it's Fox News - same incident

2nd that people forget - hit and run

MAAAAN, I was just starting to like that guy. Ugh.

They might be anomalous incidents, but threatening to beat a woman is definitely a red flag. If we got the third pick, I'd definitely dig into his past and try to get a sense for his character.

Man, as a player, he'd fit our needs so well. I love his defense and passing.

It was definitely a weird dilemma for me as a KU fan because he was fun to watch, but that off-court stuff is just shitty even if it isn't as big as some of the other incidents in all major sports.

My top 5 right now (keep in mind I don't think any of these guys would be significant contributors in any way to this team next season)

1. Jonathan Isaac, F, Florida State
2. Caleb Swanigan, F, Purdue
3. OG Anunoby, F, Indiana
4. Ike Anigbogu, C, UCLA
5. Jonathan Motley, F, Baylor

Honorable mention to Bam Adebayo

Not at all. I think those guys in many ways are what we'd wanna see out of whatever we're looking for should they pan out. I didn't say I'd take them all at 8. I'm saying those are 5 guys (6 with Bam) who if they pan out could be key players down the road that this team will like. Personally I think they'll trade the pick and should they keep it, whether it's my list, your list or whoever I don't see that player being a contributor. Isaac's way too skinny, Swanigan needs defensive work, Anunoby is perfect except he's gonna be coming off knee surgery just like LaVine, Anigbogu is super super raw and I think ultimately he goes back to school, and Motley's not as ready as I'd like him to be even at 22.

I'm not thinking about the top 7 prospects because this team isn't moving up. I'm not thinking about guards because this team has no idea what they're doing if they go guard again. There are other bigs out there (Allen, Collins, Patton, Hartenstein, Leaf, even Markkanen) but I think the guys I named possess attributes we're sorely lacking. We just need a massive infusion of toughness on this team, maybe more than necessary if this team's gonna be built around sissies.

Why don't you think Miles Bridge fits?

I am thinking Isaac, Bridges and Collins at 8. I think Isaac end up going higher. I wouldn't be surprised if Collins moves up too.

Those are my three targets at 8 as well. They all potentially bring skills to the table we don't have.

Swap Bridges for swanigan and Jarrett Allen for motley and that would be close to my top 6 in the 8-12 range.

He is a hell of a talent. Those off court issues may be enough to drop him to around #8. If he is there we absolutely should pick him and hope for the best.
