My stepson and I were talking. The Twins are without there star CF, Monster 3B, Slick SS, and Ace SP. It looks like they have figured out how to win without them. Lets hope they keep it together and when they get everyone back go on fire.

Is Mollie the Brad Stevens of baseball?

Just kidding, but it is impressive how they have been able to hold it together without key guys.

Well it sure helps when Escobar has been playing like a legit starter and the last stretch like an all-star or better. It seems like some of the guys that were floundering that are vets are coming around like you would expect. It sure helps that Cleveland has gone on a losing streak.

Great point.

Rosario is amazing. This team is getting by with some random dudes in the lineup and on the bench. Mauer had a couple good defensive plays and the pen gave up just 2 baserunners in 5 1/3 innings.

I watched the condensed game of the Royals and Indians. Man Cleveland teed off on Hammell for 9 runs and lost. They had 2 errors and miller gave up 2 runs. They are now a game under .500 and are scuffling. After what was a disastrous start the Twins are right back in it for a run at the playoffs.

Some good pitching today while the bats were quiet in a loss.

Niko Goodrum had himself quite a day in helping the Tigers beat Dertoit. 2 big HRs sandwiched around an error in the outfield.

Berrios bounces back with a good game and the Twins bats came through.

I've been watching the Royals and Cleveland condensed games and Detroit is moving up into contention also. Goodrum and John Hicks whonwere with the Twins have been contributors. Meanwhile fringe guys like Bobby Wilson, Lamarre and Petit have chipped in and helped this squad. It looks like Wilson will be here a while with Castro having Knee surgery. Everything I have read suggests Wilson is a plus defensive catcher and at least he has some pop...for a backup catcher.

Edit:

Castro done for the year.

Meniscus tear was worse than expected. Doctors did full repair, but C Jason Castro won't play again until 2019.

Hope for a full recovery for Castro. Yet I hate to say I think this a plus for the team I think there better off with a Garver/Wilson tandem.

I wish Nick Gordon could stick at Short stop he's batting .340 in double A right now. I wish we could bring him up for a cup of coffee and see what he could do, but he's just not good enough defensively to play short stop.

Who do we have in the minors at 3rd and Catcher? Would you trade Sano or Gordon for a player at either position? What would it take to get J.T. Realmuto?

I know most people will say they gotta trade for a catcher but I say let it play out for a while maybe you have your solution already like you said Jester. Last year the catcher sport was a sneaky strength even at the plate with Castro and Gimenez. Wilson isnt exactly the experienced seasoned vet you would like but I'm not sure who they are gonna bring in that all that great. The bar is pretty low for starting catchers much less backups.
