Big day for Berrios today at Fort Myers...1-hit shutout with 13 Ks (7-inning game). Was hitting 97 on the gun.

Good update. He has that kind of stuff where he can overpower hitters. All about his command, though. 13 Ks in 7 IP? Yeesh!

Just think in 3 more days we get to add another stud. Right now we're to pick Nick Gordon SS who I believe is the sun of Flash Gordon.
I've talked to LST about this a little and I agree with him after doing more reading on both of them and watching there swings in YouTube vids.
This Alex Jackson reminds me of a young A-Rod with his swing, it's so effortless and his hands through the zone so easily with great extension. Most guys have him as a 25-35 home run guy. I see him devolving into a 30-40 and the guy who protects Sano down the road. The bad news is I just don't see him getting passed the Cubs unless the Cubs pull an Astro move because they're trying to save money.
Some really good vids of him swinging on this website

Here's the update on the Twins' young pitchers, starting with the one piece of bad news:
Felix Jorge has flamed out at Cedar Rapids, and has been returned to Florida for Extended Spring Training to try to figure things out.
But on the positive side, 2 pitchers have been impressive enough to earn a promotion to Cedar Rapids. The first is Lewis Thorpe who is still only 18 years old! Quite unusual for a guy this young to get out of rookie ball, so the Twins must continue to be really impressed with this guy.
The second needs to be added to the under 20 list...Fernando Romero. Those who saw him at ST this said he had really made huge strides over last year, and was hitting the high 90s along with a plus slider. He was originally slated to be a power bullpen arm, but now they are going to try hi as a starter in CR.
Apparently young Stephen Gonsalves was also considered for promotion, but there just wasn't room.
With Berrios dominating at CR and Kohl Stewart still meeting expectations, it's hard to imagine a team with more exciting pitching under 20.

This guy has been on Cam's radar screen for a couple years, and I'm excited too. We got a chance to see how well he pitches in the futures game last year, and now we get an idea about his workout regimen. Everything about this guy screams class and work ethic, and a passionate drive to be the best. And he just turned 20! I wish he was 4 inches taller, but I still think he's going to be a stud.

Berrios (he wants us to roll those r's when we say his name!) gets the start against the U of Minnesota baseball team tonight. More than half of the Gopher team is older than Berrios. Buxton and Sano will be in the starting lineup too.
It's the last cold night of the winter here in Minny, so I'm staying in to watch Twins/Wolves. Twins at 6 on FSN+, Wolves and hour later on FSN. Ah....spring!

My favorite pitching prospect, Stephen Gonsalves (yes, even ahead of Berrios and Stewart), struck out 8 of the first 9 batters he faced last night. He's now 5-1 with a 1.31 ERA at Cedar Rapids. This kid is going to move up fast.

Berrios is turning into everything I hoped he'd be. Been dominating AA lineups this year. I expect a promotion soon.
