I'm a DLO guy, now and moving forward!!!!!!!!!

Sarcasm aside... I have not been a DLO supporter, but, dang, if he hasn't been playing pretty darn well this month. His shooting has been really good. His defensive effort is better. His pushing the pace is better. His decision making is quicker.

Don't forget the notable change we saw from DLO after the player's meeting following the first Detroit loss, leading many of us to believe DLO was called out. And there were those that wondered how long it would last. Well, it seems to have some staying power!

There will always be skepticism among some of us as to how long this can last. But there is no question this new DLO has helped us win games, and in turn, helped the growth of this team overall, including Edwards and McDaniels. That kind of contribution cannot be overlooked. So a big shout out to DLO from me.

I'm hardly ever wrong. Ok. I'm wrong sometimes. Ok. Maybe even often wrong. Whatever...

BUT... I did say several times that this was going to be D. Russell's best NBA season.

DLO also played decent for most of last season. He actually tried on defense and was not the worst defender on the team sometimes. He had a reason to give it his all coming into a year where he could get an extension. The extension didn't happen for many reasons, most of all his play in the playoffs which was abhorrent. Though not for the lack of effort. He simply wasn't good.

Now we start this year, he starts out shooting horrendous, his game is atrocious. He doesn't defend. Well at some point his talent does come through (his shooting recovers), along with the team having a players only meeting. His future pay is even more on the line now. He is going to be a FA or signed and traded in the offseason. He really has the motivation NOW to be incredible.

If we can pull off a decent trade NOW I think we have to do it. I get he is playing great, probably his best play ever. But I can't ignore the other 6 or whatever years of up and down inconsistency. I would bet anything he cannot keep going at this new level. He will eventually slump and be horseshit again (benched and unplayable).

Which was Cool's point in his "DLO Russell Trade Timing" thread...

But one could argue that DLO is just entering his prime, and maybe what we are seeing is what DLO will be.

Hahahaha, One WILL argue that, but just one. On second thought maybe 2.

None of us really knows if we can believe in this current version of Russell, but history tells us we probably can't. However, I think we can all agree that the high level that Dlo is playing at right now is very good for one of two reasons: either because it helps us win ball games like last night, or it increases his value around the league for a trade...both good things. A smart NBA POBO is not going to give up much to trade for Russell just because he has a hot couple months of shooting...he's done that before. But a smart POBO might look at video of the past couple games and realize that Russell can actually play some defense if he really wants to. I cheer more for DLo than any other player on the Wolves (and rip him unmercifully when he plays poorly), because I think he is vital to this team's chances of being very good...either by playing like he has the past couple games, or by playing well enough to bring back value in a trade.

So for either reason...GO DLO!
