Steven Adams, Brook Lopez, and Dwight Powell are all bigs with one year left on their contract and may be gettable for a shooter like Beasley.

This does two things. First, it gives us a bridge to when Kessler may be more ready for regular minutes. That takes a ton of pressure off his rookie year. Second, it frees up the logjam at SG and allows Nowell to step up as our 6th man, a role I'm confident he can ultimately equal or exceed what Beasley has done in it.

Interesting idea. I wouldn't be interested in Lopez or Powell. The Wolves really need rebounding more than anything else to help them next season. If we're going to give up the high value of Beasley's 3-point shooting, we had better get something close to elite rebounding. Adams is the only one of the three I'd consider an elite rebounder. Beasley straight up for Adams seems like a reasonable deal, although Beasley can help a lot in the playoffs while I'm not sure Adams can.

I think in one or two of those scenarios we should ask for something back in addition to the Center I named. No doubt Beasley has a really valuable skill-set.

Even if we received some additional value back for Powell or Lopez, I don't think the Wolves should trade for either one. I just don't see much sense giving up value for a big if the big isn't a really good rebounder. I supposed it would depend on the other value we received, but I wouldn't be interested in any of the three except Adams.

I still think the Wolves should pursue Jalen Smith in free agency. He's an excellent rebounder and with his 9'2" standing reach and 225+ pound frame, he'd give us a PF who isn't undersized. I also has the makings of a two-way player. His size and two-way skill set would give him versatility to have a longer-term trajectory with the team even if Kessler ends up being really good over the long haul. Smith was paid about $4 million last season. I don't know what it would cost to sign him, but I could see signing him for a big chunk of our $10M MLE. Then we could potentially trade Beasley for a long SF. Maybe a sign-and-trade for TJ Warren, although that would be risky.

I could see some value in the Wolves doing a similar trade to the one they did with Rubio for Prince last year. Basically they trade a better player for a lesser one and getting a small asset back. Prince turned out to be a nice player. Of course a massive part of that trade was the Wolves saved salary as well. The Wolves received that 2nd round pick and it turned into Josh Minott and and a future 2nd round pick. This year the Wolves don't have to worry as much about salary savings plus they have some options to replace Beasley.

Some super inspiring trades:

Beasley for Josh Richardson straight up although getting a 2nd from the Spurs would be neat.

Beasley for Olynyk and at least one 2nd round pick since Olynyk has 3 million guaranteed next season.

Beasley for Noel and Cam Reddish there are other options with the Knicks too.

Beasley for Terrance Ross and maybe a 2nd round pick.

Beasley for a platter of expiring contracts from Houston and a 2nd round pick or 2. We could keep Boban and waive the rest unless the salaries were needed in another deal. Lol

I'm not advocating for most of these deals but some of them would interest me if the Wolves got value for Beasley with some sort of asset in addition to a solid player coming back to the wolves who could be useful. A future 2nd round pick might not sound thrilling but you never know and the Wolves have traded away quite a few of their own.

One guy I hadn't thought of before in the mold of solid player next to Edwards is Donte Devincenzo. He is a FA maybe restricted but he was not pleased with the Kings after traded there last year. He is a good player when healthy but it's hard to count on him. Plus the Wolves are probably another year or more away from plugging in a guy next to Edwards that plays defense shoots and does a little bit of playmaking. Ideally we have this type of player in Moore. I think some team could do well signing Donte this offseason maybe even to a 1 year prove it deal. Maybe he even goes back to the Bucks. There are a number of guards (that aren't PGs) out there that could be quite valuable to teams that are FAs that aren't gonna get paid a massive amount of money but might get paid a nice chunk.

Lot of Bamba talk. Again, he tried his best last year, and his best was average. Also, his agent has convinced him he can do better than the Mid-level even though a whole FOUR teams can outbid the mid-level and none are showing interest. A one-year MLE "Prove it" at most. Nothing more.

We are a lot closer to being out of the playoffs than we are advancing beyond round 1.

Sign a type who is a big sf or agile C, but mostly pf oriented type, call it a day, and run it back. See where we stand in a healthy West closer to the deadline, then reevaluate to stand pat, extend people, or make a move. We just saw that lack of creation on offense is a no go in the playoffs, we have two in ant and dlo. Dlo isn't worth a max extension, but what he can do is not easily replaced.

If we have to make a trade, Beverley is our best asset to try to pry away a piece from a contender.

JaVale McGee
Taurean Prince

I think Drew Eubanks is going to be a steal for some team on a veteran minimum contract. There's a number of bigger names in the free agent pool, but as far as bigs go he's as good of a value as it gets.

John Collins was the guy I wanted the Wolves to draft when they drafted Justin Patton instead. And he's proven me right by putting up terrific numbers since coming got the NBA. Yet, I don't want the Wolves to pursue him. There must be issues with Collins we don't know about. The Hawks have been shopping him for several years now, in spite of numbers that suggest he should be a guy they build around. Something seems strange here and I'd look elsewhere for Wolves trade targets.

Yup, you absolutely called John Collins Lip. You were also all over the low hanging fruit of Portis and Hartenstein before others nabbed them and they turned out to be extremely productive rotation bigs on the cheap.

It is odd how Collins' star has fallen a bit.
