That was a stated need by the team going into the off-season. The ball never dies in his hands. He doesn't get pushed around and will only help solidfy the defense. Love it.
Im coming to join you on your Slo Mo island. What do you want me to bring you?
Kyle Anderson is kind of like a poor mans Ben Simmons. Not a good shooter, but does everything else well and has size to play and defend multiple positions.
I wasn't expecting is, but like the signing. He gives us versatility.
To clarify, I like Kyle Anderson -- the player. I especially like his length and defensive versatility. He's very disruptive on that end. Offensively, he's capable of pushing the ball in transition. He's got some ability of creating his own shot, although somewhat awkwardly. Overall, he's a winning player and provides more positives than negatives.
However, I think I would have used the mid-level exception differently, especially after re-signing Taurean Prince. That's where my slight disappointment stems from as of this moment. There have been [and will be more] quality bigs that signed for a very acceptable amount, and that money instead went towards Anderson.
It remains to be seen what the Timberwolves accomplish via trade, if anything at all. They have to get bigger and they know that. I think a trade for Clint Capela involving Malik Beasley would be a definite win. I also think signing Serge Ibaka would be a sneaky addition. I'll try my best to be patient.
Can someone throw me a lifejacket!? I thought I could make the swim from Vando island to SloMo island but I'm stuck in the middle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1T3B502Ut94Heeeeeeellllllpppp!!!!
I think the addition of Kyle Anderson improves the team incrementally. This signing is consistent with what we saw from Connelly's front office in the draft. Kyle is a two-way player with skills and toughness who complement better players around him. My disappointment was using our MLE and final roster spot on him when he doesn't fill the team's number 1 need - i.e., a rebounding big to start next to KAT. However, if the Wolves supplement this signing with a trade that brings in a Clint Capela, Myles Turner or Mitchell Robinson, then it's not longer a disappointment because it would fit well into a bigger plan. So I'm in a wait-and-see mode right not.
I'm so used to bad front office executives whose decisions are often ad hoc and not tied to a coherent comprehensive plan that makes sense. The Kessler pick, for example, looked better to me when viewed in the broader context of the other picks and how Connelly and Finch envisioned their fit with the team's current players. I'm learning that, with Connelly, it's important to take a step back and a deep breath before reaching any strong conclusions.
