Count me in for Monroe again. I really like his skillset for the Wolves. His rebounding and passing was welcomed.

This is a fantastic point, Lip. A lot of the intrigue with adding another big is to have them available for the post-season, in my opinion. It would be another missed opportunity to help ready this team for a potential playoff series against teams that are bigger in the frontcourt than Minnesota is.

Glad I had that wrong, Monster. Have to hope that Brown, Monroe or Lopez is available March 1 when the Wolves front office will apparently feel comfortable signing a free agent. Also hope that Lopez is waived before March 1. But if they're waiting for March out of concern that Prince might hit his bonus targets, that seems silly to me. My view is that the sooner we add a big who can help on the boards, the better. I don't think it would have made a difference tonight, but it could make a difference in one or more games before March. On the other hand, maybe you're right about some other bonus triggers we don't know about. I do think Gupta and his cohorts in the Wolves front office are pretty smart. Therefore, I have to believe that they are already talking to Monroe or his agent as well as some other bigs who are or will likely be available soon.

I feel 100% confident that when the Wolves are able to sign someone there will be an option that most of us will consider worthy. One advantage of waiting is that it's possible the Wolves end up with another pressing need. What if a PG ends up being out for the season? Wright is out for a while with an injury so they don't have that option. Maybe something would happen they need another guard. It's unlikely but it's possible.

Now on the other side of that...yes having another true big could be valuable here and there until then.

I will say that while if there was no restrictions I would be all for signing a true big tomorrow I also think it's fair to say that Naz Reid needs to play. I think the Wolves need to try and figure out his value going forward and give him the opportunity to show what he can AND can't do. I'm not saying Naz deserves to play or it's in the best interest of this season that he plays (it might be if he plays better which I think he may be capable of) but getting some of the other players (besides the starts or core guys) correct and getting the most value for them does matter. To me every season part of it is being able to do an assessment of players. Reid I think still has potential but we have a better idea of what he is or isn't at this point. I would feel more comfortable after this season deciding what to do with him. Compare that to Nowell? Idk man I'm still in on him and he has done some nice things but what is he really and what will he cost? He is the reason I would feel very comfortable trading Beasley for Value this offseason. Hopefully the rest of the season shows us what direction the Wolves as a whole need to improve and then maybe the Wolves can use some assets to make that improvement. What's kinda wild and exciting is the fact that the Draft is still an option for them to get better and they have a lot of young talent already.

No excuse for not paying a 2nd to dump layman. Why even have a gm? I'm good with no other trades, but it hurts to not have flexibility to grab brown or someone like bembry now

They're skating on thin ice in regards to the luxury tax. That's the only reason they likely won't use it.
