Long, you know damn well there isn't a difference between that, and Love calling out JJ which you rip on him for all the time. It's ok for KG to do it but not Love?
So many differences I don't know where to start. Let me at least cover the two most important.
1) KG calls his teammates out to their face, as opposed to Kevin Love's preferred method of whining to Jerry Zgoda. There's a big difference in calling somewhat out man-to-man, and doing it in a pansy fashion through the media.
2) KG has earned the right to call out teammates by playing hard every second he is on the court. I'm not saying Love always dogs it...he consistently works hard on the boards, and his rebounding numbers reflect that. But his matador defense, or sometimes choosing not to even cross mid-court on defense before the opponent has scored, is something we have never seen from KG. If you're going to whine to the media about teammates, your effort on the court better be beyond reproach.
I don't like KG as a person, and I have made that clear for 15 years. But to say there is no difference between him and Love in terms of how they handle their teammates is simply not true.
Amen!

Don't discount the entertainment value KG brings to wolves fans. This is the NBA after all, he still has star power.

I give the pick a higher value than KG for two reasons:
1. Because we've seen that the trade value of 1st round picks in the teens can help land very good players who can contribute positively on the court through their play -- something I have a hard time seeing KG do very often at his age.
2. Because we could have signed KG in the off season as a free agent without giving up any assets. That's the most mind-boggling aspect of all. Flip said he didn't just bring KG here for the rest of the season but instead for a year or two beyond this season. Then give me the pick we traded for Young or give me Young. Then go ahead and sign KG. He obviously wants to be here or he wouldn't have waived the no-trade clause.
I like Flip's player evaluation skills, but his business acumen is highly questionable.

Let me add to my last post that I do see value in bringing KG here. I think he'll inspire the team and I think he'll be able to teach and motivate some if not all of our younger players. I also think he'll add some value through his play on the court, particularly in the way he plays with Rubio. They are two of the highest IQ players in the League and I think they'll mesh really well. I just think we should have waited to sign KG this summer.

Lip, I've heard the argument that we should have just waited to sign KG in free agency, and I'm trying to assess the validity of that statement. Assuming Thad would have opted in (and he would have to be certifiably insane to walk away from $10 million) and factoring in Rubio's extension and other locked-in contracts, would there have been any room at all for free agents? I'm too lazy to do the math, especially since it's a hypothetical, but my initial reaction is no.
Also, since we are hearing that Thad wanted out, I wonder if there really was any market for him in a trade that was better than what Flip got.

If Thad opted in to his deal that would have meant cutting two players to open the roster spot for KG and then having him sign within one of the exceptions. Then we have 6 bigs in Dieng, Pek, AB, Payne, KG and Thad with Wiggins, Bazz, Bud, Martin, Lavine, Ricky for guys who could suit up on a nightly basis (only 12 can dress). I would like to add another PG to that group so who goes? Bud would cost a first to deal which we don't have. Trading Martin for a pick would make sense at the deadline, but probably not before the season. It's just not as simple as just sign him next year. All that also doesn't even take into account adding a top 5 pick (the cuts add the pick, but the 12 man roster doesn't).
