I know he had a good first half but he is just throwing up bricks right now. Why can't we have two good wing players, why is that so bad
Because Martin can bring us good assets for building our future.
Like what though, a late first round pick, how many of those actually pan out, or how many end up being just as good as KMart. I realize there is a chance, but Kmart is the only guy on the wolves right now who can consistently hit a 3pt. I am just not comfortable trading Kmart. The wolves are a bunch of post up players, and if we trade Kmart, 3 of our 5 starters have there best asset as a post up player
Becuz this team isn't going anywhere the next 2 years. He'll be 35 and play worse defense than he does now. He's a decent player but he holds more value as a 6th man on a playoff bound team.
I am not disagree with that point, but what is the point of just trading him away, I honestly don't think he will have that high of value on the trade market, yes he will be 35 but he still can be a 3pt specialist off the bench I would rather have him play out his contract instead of having to pay a rookie about 4 mil a year for the next 4 years (who probably won't pan out)

The Wolves should be trying to accumulate young talent with more well rounded skill. Only teams with championship aspirations can afford to use up a roster spot on a three point specialist. When u have a young team u can't expect the 4 younger players to make up for all Martin's flaws just becuz he can knock down some 3s and get to the line. Those are both mostly individual skills. He doesnt do much to further the growth of the younger players around him.

I understand the point you are trying to make, but honestly what are the odds that for example the 26th pick in the draft turns out to be able to help the wolves in the future, then the wolves will have a player that can't help them at all on the roster. Martin at least creates space for the young players to operate. I am not opposed to trading Kmart but I don't think they will get good value back in return

I appreciate what u r saying, but I'm looking at KMART the player 2 years from now when I expect the wolves to be relevent. Given his injury history and age I can only assume he'll be a shell of his current self. So I'd take my chances on a first round pic if they could get that in return ..
Honestly, the only thing he does for this team now is prolly help them win 3 or 4 games more than they wouldve. And that might be the difference between the 1 pick and the 5 pick in the draft.

A few of us brought Carrol's name up in the past as a cheap-ish defensive wing to bring on board. I remember how disappointed I was when he got signed. He's a classic 3&D hustle player. It's not surprising to see him thrive.
I think a guy averaging 20 PPG who can knock down a three could bring back a decent return. Getting a Terrence Jones type of guy in return would be enough for me.

If we got TJones I would be very happy but I just don't think the Rockets would do it (I might be wrong).
