Terrific opening game for the Vikings! The pundits had the Saints as a resurgent team with a much improved defense, and they acted that way in preseason while the Vikings floundered. Once again we learn that preseason means nothing, because we were by far the better team.

I actually thought Bradford looked very good in preseason even though he never threw a TD pass. I wasn't surprised by his extraordinary accuracy last night, especially since the O line gave him all the time in the world. And they weren't all short passes either, as he had 5-6 20+ pass plays.

We clearly got a big break when the Saints' RT left the game...they were already quite thin. But we would have won this game handily anyway.

The question is do the Saint have a slot receiver? They don't have a lot and to be honest I didn't see whoever was covering the slot get burned too bad all game but I only watched the condensed game. Thanks for the info on that goal one play.

I don't think they do. It was just odd he came in on goal line because I didn't see him the rest of the game and then he basically was in the way on a run play. I think Newman played most of the game in slot. Waynes was solid. I am not a fan of Gedeon. I know they love him, but he seems like he would be best in short yardage situations. Brothers is just better in space so maybe he is the answer short term, but he really just seems like more of a speical teams guy, but honestly, this team needs another LB. Even if it is to push Barr.

Here is the DB snap breakdown

"#Vikings had some cramping problems among DBs. Cornerback snap counts were Waynes 57, Rhodes 45, Newman 41, Alexander 27."

Let's be honest regardless of everything holding the Saints to no TDs till that late one was a pretty impressive performance.

I agree. I am surprised Alexander played that much and he only stood out once to me.

Will Brock take his snaps?

We will see. Regardless it's nice to have a vet like Brock as an option.

After week 1 just like everyone would expect...

Alex Smith and Sam Bradford 1 and 2 in passing.

Same for those team's rookie RBs. Hunt is 7th in receiving yards.

Thielen 3rd in receiving yards.

McKinnon leads the NFL in KR yards (27ypr) had the 3rd longest return this week. Not too shabby they were pretty aggressive coming out.

Some of those passes Bradford slung were just things of beauty. Impressive performance.

Agreed - Some great catches too. Sam and Diggs/Thelien are certainly confident in each other. I think the OL will be fine as long as we don't have injuries.

Agreed Bradford was amazing on some of those throws. That one catch Diggs had in the end zone was really good. I'm not knocking the other guys but when Floyd comes back healthy (he is the tallest receiver on the team) this COULD be a pretty dynamic group.

Looked at PFF. Looking at their grades the OL played bad expect Reiff.

Yeah, we have to temper our enthusiasm as this was a terrible Saints defense.

Regarding Bradford, that long second pass on the three play touchdown drive to Wright was just crazy. Bradford couldn't even see Wright when he let it go with a defender about to hit him and the pass was perfect!
