I was always looking at the situation in terms of both the 2021 and 2022 draft. Remember that if the pick didn't convey this year it would be fully unprotected next year. If the Wolves had landed number 3 and taken Mobely or Suggs or even Kuminga there is a decent chance the team goes pear shaped anyway and could potentially give up the top pick in 2022. Is that a better situation? Hard to say at this point. I've actually suspected that Rosas may have preferred to lose the pick this year by putting only the top 3 protection on it.

My honest take, I don't care. When I was younger I was the type to buy all those stupid draft magazines for the NFL and follow the NBA offseason very closely. I've been around long enough to know being the offseason champion does not translate into winning actual games. I've also been a Wolves fan long enough to have seen plenty of late season winning that didn't translate to the following season, and high draft picks that don't pan out and/or don't contribute to winning.

At this point I watch the games for entertainment value alone, I don't have hope, but I'm open to the unlikely possibility that the Vikings, Wolves, or Wild could one day surprise me... but I'm not holding my breath.

The Vikings are ALWAYS entertaining in one way or another and at least they have ability to find and develop some talent at certain positions.

How much of a kick in the nuts would it have been to miss the playoffs this year and have the guarantee that your pick is gonna be gone to where it would even be a top 3 pick in 2022?


The debt is paid. Move on. As miserable as you may be, imagine a scenario where Wiggins is still here, Anthony Edwards is not, and you're still watching this organization continue to believe in Wiggins as a cornerstone piece of this franchise.
