He's gotta do better.

Thanks for posting, Danger.

KAT's quotes in this article confirm Q's take-aways from watching KAT at the presser. It seems like KAT can't take a truly honest look at himself in the mirror. Instead, he continues to consider himself a victim and attributes everything bad about his game to his effort to be good if not to his victimization by the officials. Most of KAT's fouls the other night weren't close calls. They were fouls and they were dumb ones. KAT won't take the next step unless he stops believing his own narrative. Unfortunately, he can't seem to do that even as he concedes some small points. He should have emerged from Tuesday night's game with a full understanding that he needs to stop committing dumb fouls and stop complaining or even thinking about the officials. KAT said he needs to be smarter, but he implied that he just needs to stop giving officials things they an use to victimize him. My take away is that I don't think KAT really believes in his heart that anything about his pathetic performance on Tuesday was his fault - except perhaps that he cares too much. When you think your only fault is that you're too wonderful, you won't change. That's why I suggested an intervention. :)

I agree with the intervention strategy. May be co-op his girlfriend and Dad too!

But all of this is why we really, really, really need Ant to become the team's best player and #1A option. I realize Ant isn't ready for this yet. KAT is by far the more efficient scorer and still is the top dog on offense, until Ant proves otherwise. But we won't be a contending team until this happens.

Ant has the potential to be a two-way stud in the mold of D-Wade, prime Westbrook, and Kawhi. Jordan and LeBron might be a bridge too far, but I think those other guys are within reach if he really commits himself to his game and his body.

And if he achieves this ceiling, then we can afford a petulant KAT that still puts up an efficient 23/10/4 night in and night out.
