Additionally, Dane Moore tweeted that the Wolves had interest in trading for Marcus Smart prior to his new deal in Boston. The price was obviously pretty steep. They turned to Patrick Beverley instead.
I'm assuming we have one roster spot with Bolmaro signing today unless the Wolves are willing to let Vanderbilt or JMac walk. I calculate around $4.8M under the luxury tax with the cap holds on Vanderbilt and JMac - even less room if the Wolves sign Vanderbilt to a contract along the lines of the one you suggested. Technically, the Wolves actually have 3 roster spots to work with even with Bolmaro signing - (1) the open slot created by the Beverley trade, (2) Vanderbilt's cap hold, and (3) JMac's cap hold. Reminding JMac's QO would give the Wolves about $6.3M under the luxury tax. Reminding both Vanderbilt's and JMac's QOs would give the Wolves around $8.8M by my calculation.
I think the Wolves will withdraw JMac's qualifying offer and use the extra salary flexibility to sign Millsap. Ideally, they'd be able to sign Millsap and still re-sign both Vanderbilt and JMac. I think Vanderbilt should be a priority.
You would be correct on the roster spots. I initially copied over what Dane Moore reported prior to my own validation. I revised my previous comment to match.
If the Wolves were able to squeak out enough room to sign Paul Millsap and still re-sign their own restricted free agents, I think we need to talk about Gersson Rosas a bit more positively. That would be a significant off-season without having much to work with (by his own doing, but still).

JMac, while a fine player, is inconsequential. There are 50 guys in this skill caliber that can be signed for vet min. I am fine signing him, but he certainly is easily replaceable as a 3rd-4th PG. We should do everything we can to fill out PF spot with someone like Millsap, as suggested, and not worry about what happens to JMac.

Good job Wolves! I figured Culver or Hermangomez for Rondo when I heard the Clips and Memphis trade but both for Pat Bev is even Better!

So our backup PG is coming off of suspension and our backup SG is coming off of a stint in prison. Brilliant!
Seriously though, Beasley and Beverly are going to really help set the tone for that second unit.

I'm just echoing the above sentiments here while repeating what I've said in other threads. If the Wolves can get Paul Millsap to bite on a two-year, $12.1-million deal with a player option ($5.9-million in 2021-2022) that would be a huge win. I use that number because it's rumored that Millsap would be interested in playing for the Atlanta Hawks or Golden State Warriors for that $5.9-million tax-payer mid-level exception. Minnesota could offer him a starting spot and a second year -- neither of which I would expect the Hawks or Warriors being able to provide.
If Millsap agrees to such an offer in Minnesota, the front office would still theoretically be able to retain Jarred Vanderbilt on a multi-year deal -- unless there's another team that swoops into the mix with an offer sheet, especially one that's front-loaded. If both of these things happen, the money gets really tight for Jordan McLaughlin. He might be the odd man out here, but if that's the casualty for solidifying the power forward position without giving up draft picks, then it's definitely worth it.

Also add Okogie to that mix. A bench unit of pat bev/ Beasley/okogie/ prince/ Naz is a pretty well balanced ton setting group. With only 1 non shooter in okogie.
I'm with everyone though if we can add Millsap this offseason I feel like the Wolves did fantastic without adding a star

Then what is the rest of your starting lineup? The only way I see that happening is if they start McD at the 4, which by all indications Finch prefers seeing him at the 3 (at least to start games). Beasley is almost the ideal 6th man for this squad.

I legit don't think he will they have already mentioned him coming off the bench and he is cool with it because he wants to win. Also mcdaniels is a better SF then PF so it makes to much sense for him to come off the bench. He could close games though

I could be wrong so check my quick math this trade also clears up cap space and could sign a player up to 27 million next year.
