This isn't the only time it's been mentioned. Rewatch the Ricky Rubio and Ed Davis introductory presser to see Ryan Saunders hint at playing four-guard lineups. He may have listed a handful of names that can play the four, but the idea of four guards on the floor together around Karl-Anthony Towns has already been thrown out there by Saunders. That's where my comments are stemming from.

Point taken.

I probably trust Josh's ability to deny and take away the dribble though better than anyone else's on the team.

That being said...as was pointed out earlier we would likely get crushed on the boards

It's a match up game. Okogie is valuable because he can guard almost any size/type player (back to basket 7 footer is exception). Their aren't that many PF's left in the league that don't require putting the ball on the floor or catch and shoot 3's which Okogie does very well defending against anyone. This isn't even moderately surprising to hear that Saunders will consider playing him at the 4. He also has the advantage in transition against the slower PF's which still exist.

Transition works better... after a stop.

The Wolves will need many more of those this season... regardless of who's guarding the opposing team's 2nd tallest player.

At least we have length at other positions. Ultimately, we didn't take rebounding and D at the 4 that seriously this offseason, which is definitely peculiar. I would anticipate that they will need to be creative with lineups. Since Davis, RHJ, Okogie, Culver, and Rubio could theoretically be the worst shooting lineup ever put on a basketball court.

This might clear up the Okogie at PF comment...Wolfson's asked the last question of Ryan's media availability today asking for confirmation that Naz, RHJ and Juancho had not yet cleared the Covid protocol yet. So that's like half the bigs of the roster they might have decided to throw Okogie in there and see what happens till those guys were available.

In Okogie's media availability they asked if the coaching staff had talked to him about playing PF in the offseason etc and he said no. They asked how he would do playing PF and he basically said he didn't care he would guard anyone. He said he grew up playing center so he said kick KAT out and he would play the 5. Lol

Again I really don't think we are gonna see Okogie play maybe any minutes at PF but if he does it will be a pretty small number.

That makes more sense. Okogie is a character for sure. He is emeging as a leader for the team this off season. Im excited to have him and culver hound the opponents wings. I think he will be very good for edwards. He will
likely compete with him in practices and thats going to help edwards.

Okogie and Edwards are both from the Atlanta area so there might be a bit of a connection there.

Good info. I can see okogie emerging as a marcus smart/ draymond green type leader if he continue to improve his game.. He can be the heart and soul of your team. He is far from being the best player but he commands respect and good things happen when he is on the court. Hopefully he helps mentor edwards and pushes him to reach his incredible ceiling.

I think we all like Josh Okogie and what he gives on the court, but we should maybe pump the brakes on him a bit.

So we shouldn't be comparing him to Draymond Green or even Marcus Smart yet?

What?

IF he continue to improve his game. Maybe should have used the word ceiling? Like how we say wismean's ceiling is dave robinson or hero's ceiling is booker.
