I think Glen played the "family" atmosphere too much without enough substance to back it up. I've worked for organization that saw we are family but it ends up being a place where there are no boundaries so you are expected to do more than should be expected especially based on pay.

What makes this hire seem like it's not just some guy from an agency to simply pander to players (that might still have a certain effectiveness lol) is he has actual ties to and lived and worked in this area. He also has some level of basketball knowledge himself even if it was playing and coaching at a lower level. I'm not calling this a home run hire or anything but it makes sense.

Exactly monster. Glen is a nice guy and Becky's annual lasagna dinner is an attempt to create that family atmosphere, but how many NBA players want to travel to Mankato to hang with the Taylors? The addition of Lore, ARod and now Watts is moving the team in a different direction that I think will play well with the players. We'll have to see if it pans out.

I like this simpler explanation. Ant from Klutch too.

It's also hard to sell a "Family" atmosphere when there is constant turnover from GMs to Coaches and the roster. There was some bad luck in there but regardless no continuity for many years. Roster turnover is part of pro sports but the Wolves entire history outside of KG is guys moving around quite a bit.

On top of that the Wolves have for various reasons clearly had disfunction. Every family has some of that but yikes. Rosas was hired with the idea that the Wolves were supposed to be all about family and turned out he was a literal home wrecker. I mean...NOBODY saw that coming. Of course Rosas turned over the roster too so...but hey that's pro sports but family...

I think a different model other than family is a better idea where you take good care of people while they are around your franchise. Most players get that it's a business and moves have to be made but they are humans and some of them probably want to be well taken care of. One thing that may have kept Glen from doing more than he would have otherwise was he maybe didn't want to do anything that would get him in trouble. I can understand to SOME extent why he would be a little bit concerned about that point. Having some different folks in that role without anything lingering over their heads will be good and ARod's experience as a player will help a lot I think too.
