Re: Official 2016 Offseasont Thread (Free Agents/Trades/Front Office Moves)
His rebounding numbers aren't great but I've always like Brandon Bass when I watch him play. He seems like a solid vet bench guy (seems like a good guy also) that could help I don't know what he might cost though since he has a player option for just over 3 million. I know he doesn't seem wildly exciting but I'm sure he would be effective enough to help the bench not suck like we have seen the last few weeks.

The real unknown here is how crazy teams get with the new cap.
A lot of this depends on how other teams approach free agency. It wouldn't be the flashiest off season but I'd be tempted to sit back during free agency and act a dumping ground for unwanted contracts. If we could take on a couple guys while picking up future picks that could be the way to go. We've got a really solid starting 5 (I'd rather see Dieng come of the bench but he's not a bad starter) plus a high pick this year, those guys will get playing time and spending big on a backup doesn't really excite me. Wes Matthews would be my top "target" but there are others out there as well, I'd stay away from the Stephenson/Morris types of players though.

Re: Official 2016 Offseasont Thread (Free Agents/Trades/Front Office Moves)
- Kevin Garnett and Tayshaun Prince choose to retire, promptly opening up two roster spots and $8M worth of cap space.
- I'd thank Damjan Rudez for always being ready to enter the game, jogging in place during timeouts, and being a consummate professional. I decline his option for the 2016-17 season saving about $1.2M. I also let Greg Smith walk.
- Assuming we don't move up in the draft and stay at No. 5, I'd draft Jakob Poeltl. I like his game on both ends of the floor. He also fits really well with Towns and Dieng. Would be happy to get him.
- I'd offer David West a two-year, $14M deal and let him and his agent mull it over. West seems to be in ring-chasing mode, but should the Spurs win it all, maybe he goes after a bigger payday. Not super likely, but I'd still make the call. The guy still has gas left in the tank. Brings us some leadership and nastiness along with his on court production.
- I'd offer Kent Bazemore four-years, $40M OR three-years, $36M; both offers have a little wiggle room monetarily. I'd be willing to pay him more annually in order to shorten the contract length and he might like that option if he feels like he'll have another payday when he's 30-years old (the "bet on himself" idea). He'd be the first wing off the bench for us. He fits with everything we have going on including every one of our other perimeter players. 3/D player with rebounding ability and above average athleticism plus scrappiness. We could certainly use all of that. I'd also give him plenty of minutes at both SG/SF to justify the money.
- I'd sign Robbie Hummel to a two-year, $1.76M deal with a team option on the second year.
- Lastly, I'd sign Ronnie Price to a one-year, $1.00M deal for point guard depth. He's nothing special, but he plays with effort, can pressure opposing PGs defensively, shoots the three at about league average efficiency this year (35.1% in 2015-16) and won't feel owed a rotation spot as he really hasn't been that type of guy in his career.
- I don't see Taylor having the balls to fire Mitchell, but you all know who I'd go after for his empty position should it need to be filled.

I'm on board with this cam. Looks doable and realistic and certainly makes sense.

We select Sabonis with Toronto's pick.
Our top 5 pick for Denver's top 8 pick and their 15th-20th pick from Portland.
We select Poeltl and Grayson Allen
Our top 5 pick for the Buck's 10th-12th pick and Greg Monroe (He just doesn't fit in Milwaukee, nor does his contract. He may not be the best fit here, but he can produce and would be a good buy low get in my opinion.)
We select Skal or Demetrius Jackson with the Milwaukee pick.
Our top 5 pick for Bostons 2 picks in the 15-22 range and Crowder.
We select Grayson Allen and Diamond Stone. In a perfect world we would select Sabonis and Valentine here, but I think both may just be out of reach.
Any thoughts on these deals? Are any too unrealistic? Which one would you most prefer?
Great trade ideas. I would take the Boston deal in a heartbeat. I would also try and get a third team on the Milwaukee deal to take Monroe. Monroe just doesn't fit what we need, but is a valuable asset to trade.

Re: Official 2016 Offseasont Thread (Free Agents/Trades/Front Office Moves)
1. Sign a new coach like Thibs, Brooks, Hornacek or Blatt
2. Draft BPA with our number 1 and try to get a defensive stud we can develop with our second pick (ideas include Patrick McCaw, Gary Payton, Daniel Ochefu, Chinanu Onuaku, Egidijus Mockevicius)
3. Go after a free agent big who is a top defender: Horford, Mahinmi, Biyombo, Ezeli, Noah, Pachulia and Ed Davis (in pretty much that order)
4. Sign a free agent or trade Bazz for a 3 and D wing (or player with that potential) Batum (would be great, but the downside is that it sends Zach to the bench so maybe we should look for a cheaper bench guy) Guys who might accept a bench role with that potential are Thabo Sefolosha, Jeremy Lamb, Tony Snell, Alan Anderson, Evan Turner, Wes Johnson (ugh), Mo Harkless, KJ McDaniels.
5. Try to sign Dubs to a contract similar to Belly
6. Bring in some D-League talent or unsigned free agents that excel on both ends to fill up remaining spots on bench: Vince Hunter, Brandon Ashley, Christian Wood, Raphi Putney, Lo Brown are names I like.
I'm not sure how many new faces we'll have next year. But I think 4-6 seems about right. Guys to replace in order of likelihood 1. Open spot 2. Smith 3. Prince 4. KG 5. Payne 6. Rudez 7. Bazz 8. Pek

The reason I don't like #2 is because we don't get an established player in the deal. If we are going to trade out of that top 5 slot, I want a veteran player coming back in some way. By the way, one scenario you didn't propose is a straight up swap of our pick for a vet, such as the Derrick Favors proposal bandied about on this board.
(by the way, I'm not sure Boston is willing to give up both of their 1sts AND Crowder for a top 5 pick....perhaps just one of their 1sts + Crowder, which I would still probably be in favor of).
I think Boston might bite if our pick would be top 2 and their New Jersey pick would be lower. They are desperately trying to find star for their otherwise stacked group and Simmons or Ingram would give them a shot for that.
If our pick would be in top2 and their New Jersey pick would be worse, I would try to first ask Crowder and that pick in exchange to our top2 pick.

Good call. Here's a recent headline list:

More complete list of free agents can be found from below:

My personal wish list would be one strong defensive minded big, one decent 3&D wing and one cheap veteran point.
For big man my wish list would be Biyombo, Mahinmi or Ezeli. For 3&D guy, I would consider Gerald Henderson (he used to be bad shooter but has shot treys better than 33% already in 4 consecutive seasons and has shot them career high 36% rate this season), Dudley or Courtney Lee. For veteran point my top candidates would be Bayless or Augustin.

Biyombo, Mahinmi, Mozgov, Pachulia, and Ezeli all seem like potential targets to get us a true Center that can bang inside and clog the lane. None of these guys are 30 MPG type players, but they are someone in the rotation you can put next to KAT or Dieng when playing against especially big lineups. This wouldn't even be necessary if Pekovic returned to form, but that doesn't seem like it will ever happen.
I agree that most of those big men might not be players capable for playing 30 MPG with the exception of Biyombo. He has started 22 games this season when Valenciunas has been injured and averaged 29.8 minutes per game in those games. His stats as starter have been 7.2 pts, 12.2 rbs and 2.0 blks per game with 58% TS%. More importantly Toronto has had record of 15-6 in games that Jonas missed. Biyombo is also still just 23 years old, so he has some room for improvement. If he would be able to develop even similar offensive game to DeAndre Jordan or Tyson Chandler, he would be great.

Re: Official 2016 Offseasont Thread (Free Agents/Trades/Front Office Moves)
I like the idea of taking other peoples contracts so they can chase free agent dreams. Getting picks and maybe players would be huge. Need to be ready to cut players we get though if they are bad for chemistry.
