You mentioned Dieng. I would not be shocked if he would be attainignable at the vet min. This offseason various players signed for that much. Dwight Howard, Harry Giles, Alex Len. What is Drummond going to get or a guy like Dedmond? I get they are really close up to the Lynx tax cap but you can also use that to your favor. Sorry Gorgui we can't pay any more money...
There is one more outside the box route the Wolves could go. Sign a somewhat experienced player to 2-way contract. I don't have anyone off the top of my head that would qualify but maybe there is a guy that's even playing in Europe that fits the description that would jump at the chance to be on an NBA roster even with the 2-way restriction.
The Wolves will need to be creative if they want to add to their roster without going over the lux tax.
Hey did your numbers not include the Wolves possible top pick if they did get it? I'm gonna have to go look at my spreadsheet. Lol
Edit: I didn't have a spreadsheet for 2021-2022 so I had to rectify that!
Lip remember that Bolmaro's Rookie scale is based on what year he is drafted so I believe the 120% of the rookie scale number is 2,284,800 which gets the Wolves over the 3 million mark and also would give them 13 contracts. Everything else you have seems to line up with the numbers I have. It's so exciting to not have to have a spot for Cole Aldrich anymore...
I did not include the possibility of keeping our pick. If that happens, we won't even be able to sign Bolmaro without exceeding the luxury tax threshold.
I didn't leave out the option of signing a vet for the minimum. I know we can do that, but my point is that $2.9M to spend won't land the caliber player we need to significantly upgrade the roster with a big man to start next to KAT.
There's not much the Wolves can do creatively to move the needle. Maybe they'll be able to sign Alex Len, Harry Giles or Gorgui Dieng for around $2.5M per year. And maybe that will move the needle.
As tonight's game against the Celtics showed, this roster as currently constituted is fundamentally flawed. I continue to believe it comes down to the flaw in building the team around DLO as our second max player. Based on what DLO provides - and doesn't provide -
it just won't work I understand it's not realistic to expect the Wolves to trade him this summer. So we just have to hope things come together in a way that seems improbably with DLO on the roster as our starting PG on a max contract. Maybe we can deal Beasley for Myles Turner and, assuming Turner is and remains healthy after his foot surgery, perhaps that will be enough to compensate for the defensive weakness of our two max players and DLO's overall inconsistency. But in my view, trading Beasley would be trading the wrong guy. That guy should be DLO. And if we can't get as much value for DLO as we can for Beasley, then that speaks volumes.
Knew it on trade day

And I'll add that it might be okay because Ant is going to be our best player by the end of next season. And if Finch can ever see that McDaniels needs to be a part of the offense, we won't really need DLO. He will just be a guy who gets paid a lot for being a role player.

While some have poo poo'd Ant's garbage time points and play, at least he is getting it done and not giving up. Even worse would be if he hadn't progressed from a very inefficient scorer to what he is now which isn't too bad. He's learned quite a bit over the season. Getting to the line much more and finishing around the hoop. His 3P shot is much improved as well.
I agree that he should be our best player by the end of next season.
Was DLO's best season also his contract extension year? I was thinking about that myself. Looking it up it looks like it was. Unless DLO improves dramatically next year and then continues it into his last year of his deal then I would rather let him test FA or simply walk altogether.
I worry he will turn it up again into his contract year and then trick the Wolves into resigning him at a max deal. So my point is he needs to dramatically improve next season and then the year after for me to buy into him. Guys who only play for the next contract are not for me.

That's a good take, Cool. Ant has been playing at an all-star caliber level and is already our second best player. I'm looking forward to seeing him and McDaniels after a full off-season and training camp. The vast majority of those we consider elite NBA players over the years make a big jump between their 1st and 2nd seasons and often an even bigger jump going into their 3rd and 4th seasons. I also like the trajectory and potential of Vando. If we keep Beasley, I like what he brings to the table. He's reliable in that you know he'll give you really good three-point shooting and rebound his position well game to game.

What do you guys think of a Steven Adams for Rubio trade. They make the same amount of money, Rubio is expiring and Adams has 2 years left. Adams just hasn't fit next to Zion.
Adams would be a big Center for the Wolves. He would battle inside defensively, set amazing screens and be a really good teammate.
Pretty much trading similar tier of player but acquiring a position of need more in Adams. The downside is one extra year of him but I think like this year his expiring will be good next year

I think that's a great idea, kek. He would provide some interior size and defensive toughness that KAT needs. I could see the Pelicans being interested in that deal. They're in rebuilding mode and might like Ricky's veteran presence along with his expiring contract. I think Ricky's a better fit on their roster than Adams. They might insist on us including another asset. Maybe offer Culver along with Ricky, but insist on getting a future 2nd round pick along with Adams in return.
I've been thinking about trading for Favors. But I like your idea of Adams better.

I really like that idea. We haven't had a banger since Pek. Adams though on the downside of his career would be a nice addition to help our awful rebounding.

Physically, Adams shouldn't be on the downside of his career. he'll turn 28 years old this summer. So he should still be in his prime for at least a few more years. Obviously, he plays a style that's out of favor in today's NBA. He's a big banger who rebounds and scores in the paint. The Wolves have the luxury of playing a big like Adams because KAT is such a versatile offensive player with an elite three-point shot.

Downside of his career! Adam hasn't even peaked yet. ;-)
Just imagine the screens Adams would set allowing Edwards to attack the hoop. It would be a thing of beauty. Let alone the after game interviews with those two
