Bolmaro with 19/8/8 tonight in Iowa and a team leading +23 in Iowa's win over Sioux Falls. Shot 8-10 from the field including 2-4 from three. The only blemish was 6 turnovers. He and Knight (31/13/2) dominated anytime they were on the court together.
McKinley Wright was a surprising 4-6 from 3 and had 18 points and 6 assists.

Let's get them both into the Minnesota Wolves rotation. :)

We may have to include Nathan Wright too. 31-13 on 13-25 shooting (4-9 on threes)!
I can't remember where I saw it (maybe on Jon K's twitter feed?) , but if anyone can find and post Bolmaro's no-look behind the back pass with 2 defenders on him to Knight for a wide open three, it's worth watching! We don't know yet how good this kid will be, but he certainly appears to be a unique talent.

Another win tonight for our boys in Iowa, 124-109 over Grand Rapids. They are 3-0 now and once again were powered to victory by McKinley Wright and Leandro Bolmaro.
Bolmaro was awful in the first half, laying a goose egg with multiple turnovers. Then he came out on fire and scored 22 points in the 2nd half. He ended up with 22/5/4 on 5-9 from 3 and a +19 for the game.
Wright had 30/8/7 and was a scintillating 10-13 from the field, including 2-2 on 3's and a +17. This guy looks like a completely different player from what I saw in the summer league.
Grand Rapids had Lance Stephenson and Cam's good buddy Nik Stauskas, so a couple experienced NBA rotation guys. They weren't good enough tonight!

The boys on or favorite Iowa sports team lost tonight for the first time this season. McKinley Wright continued his hot play with 26/2/3 including going 5-9 from 3. He's been sizzling from beyond the arc since the season began. You can tell he hasn't had to play for the big league Wolves yet, which surely will ruin his shot. We'll enjoy the G-League glory while we can!
Bolmaro may have had one of his worst games as a professional player, including Spain. He was 1-16 from the floor, including 0-9 from 3. He did chip in 7 rebounds and 7 assists, but that's not nearly enough to make up for a horrific night shooting the ball.

McKinley Wright and the Iowa Wolves are back in action tonight after a long break. Let's take a look at how Wright did in the "showcase" portion of the G-League, in which he played 9 games.
G - 9
MPG - 34.5
PPG - 19.4
FG% - 50%
3PT% - 40%
FT% - 93.1%
Reb - 4.2
Asst - 6.9
TO - 3.3
Stl - 1.4
Blk - .6
Net Rating - +8.0
The bottom-line is that he had a stellar 9 games. He was absolutely on fire to start and then hit a rough patch in the last couple games, but overall, he was very good.
McKinley Wright is an important player to watch given our lack of PG depth. He could easily step into McLaughlin's role as our 3rd PG next season. From a culture perspective, he's a great fit, bringing a bulldog defensive mentality to the table. The question with him will always be whether his outside shot holds up.

Thanks for posting this info, Q. I agree that McKinley Wright is an important player to watch. His shot looked terrible in Summer League and the preseason. So it's good to see his impressive shooting percentages in the G-League. There's no question in my mind that he can be a good defender off the bench in the NBA. As you noted, the key is his shooting.

McKinley Wright resumed his stint in the G-League a couple nights ago and reeled off 30 points, literally taking over the game in the 4th quarter to rally the Wolves in a come-from-behind victory. His shooting continues to hold up well and he's got a killer short mid-range game (kind of like Nowell). He's also got some real dog in him.
If this keeps up, I fully expect him to be our 3rd PG and pretty much full time with the big league team next year.

.....meanwhile, Bolmaro has been a disaster down there. Not good.
