If the media and majority of fans had their way all the best talent would be dispersed among 5-6 teams and let them feast on the lesser teams. It gets tiring. If they wanna construct the league like its Globtrotters vs The Generals every nite why not just make it like the WNBA and trim down the amount of teams and games that's are played. Why avoid the inevitable?
I've been saying this for years. But the Warriors were terrible for a long time and nobody cared about the Raptors. So that's why I'm mildly optimistic that we can be relevant again.

Hope it was a one-way ticket. :)
I thought we wanted him to leave so the Raps would take Wiggins of our hands? I don't Care if he goes to the Lakers, LeBron is old and AD is perpetually broken. They'll have a very narrow window.

Kawhi's camp said he won't be making a decision tonight and that it might be a few days. He's clearly struggling with this decision. I know most NBA pundits were reporting this last week that Kawhi was likely to land with the Lakers. I just don't see that happening. Maybe my judgment is clouded by disdain for the Lakers, but LeBron just doesn't seem like the type to go become part of a so-called "super team." More than that, I think he'd have a hard time getting comfortable playing for an organization whose top basketball executive is knows as a weasel. Kawhi seems to put a high premium on trust and there's trust doesn't seem to be part of the Laker culture right now. There's a reason Kawhi asked to meet with Magic Johnson and not Pelinka.
So it comes down to this. If Kawhi is set on playing in his home town, he'll sign with the Clippers. They seem like his kind of team and organization -- gritty, tough and smart. Doc Rivers strikes me as the kind of head coach Kawhi would like to play for. There was enough talent there already to win 47 games last season. The team has some nice young players who were good last season and should get better. He'd be playing with one of the League's best shooters in Lou Williams, another excellent shooter in Gallinari, a tough, high energy PF in M. Harrell, a tough defensive PG in Patrick Beverley and a team overall with good depth and chemistry. And he'd be playing for a proven head coach who has won a championship. Otherwise, I think Kawhi would be comfortable staying in Toronto, a City that loves him, playing with a team that treated him well and won a Championship.
If he ends up with the Lakers, I'll be surprised because that would make him like everybody else in the League. And I just don't see him being like everyone else - which is why I like him so much.
