Lol. Good one, Wild. Note that the Wolves gave up a valuable asset, Saric, to get a player with flaws. Rosas could have drafted one if my flawed favorites without giving up any assets. And that what makes me bitter and twisted.

We aren't privy to all those conversations but I don't believe he thought it was 100% certain Garland was going to be there as Lip is stating. I would of prolly given up RoCo if Garland is supposed to be that good. Too me it's worth that gamble. I can make an argument White should of been the pick at 6 due to the importance of a PG and the skills set he brings. However, it seem White was definitely the prospect most pundits were all over the board on.

I want to be clear. I never suggested that Rosas was certain Garland would be there at #6. To the contrary, my issue is that Rosas gave up a valuable asset to get Garland without knowing for sure he could get him. As you said, it was a gamble. My view is that it was a bad gamble because we could have drafted a player at least as good as Culver without giving up Dario as an asset. It seemed really amateurish to me - a typical Wolves-type flop.

We're not the destination for a lot of things other than poor management and awful basketball. So what would have been a good pick?

If Garland had fallen one more spot, just one more spot, you wouldn't give a damn about Saric or his "value." Let's be honest.

Half the board is losing its mind over the trade/pick - I think we need a poll and get everyone on the record of who we should have picked at 11 (or 6th with the trade).

I think I would've stayed put and grabbed the guy from France . If this is a 3 year project I think his ceiling is much higher

This I'd love to read.

I don't disagree with Doumbouya as an option, but keep in mind: he was far from ready. He was still learning his way around basketball. He likely doesn't play much at all with the Wolves this year as he's better suited to learn in G League, and there's no guarantee that everything comes to fruition. He's a blank canvas (which is fine). If they stayed at 11 and he was the guy, cool, but he doesn't fix our three point woes immediately either. At least Culver comes in with plus level skills already.

These draft discussions always seemed to be the most emotionally charged. Our trauma comes out full bore when the promise of hope returns.

As Wolves fans I don't blame the disapproval of drafting Culver. We are all use to getting hyped up about high draft picks only to be left extremely disappointed. Johnson, Foye, Williams, McCants, Patton - the list goes on.

But I think Culver will develop into a very good player. Maybe even a fringe All Star. Why? Because he has drive, a high IQ, good motor and already has a solid set of all round skills. Plus he just comes across as a likeable guy. It's by adding guys like this that you create a positive culture and surround them with a cast of coaches, GMs and support staff which helps them grow, which I think we have.

People on this board always mention how certain stats translate across from College to the NBA such as rebounds, assists and steals. Culvers number in these catergories in his sophomore season were 6.4 / 3.7 / 1.5. All were solid improvements from his freshman season. I'm not worried about the 30% 3pt shootings, considering he shot 38% the year before when he wasn't the focal point of the opposition defense. Also he shot 53% from 2pt range which is solid for a guard.

I also like the Jaylen Nowell pick. Put up impressive numbers for Washington over two seasons and he could develop into a nice rotation player. I also like the fit with our current roster.

My grade = B
