My concern with Wig is that the current plan from Rosas and Saunders is to have Wiggins play off the ball more to conserve energy for the defensive end, and to convince him to pick more efficient shots. I do realize, if we keep Wiggins, convincing him of those things is the only way he becomes a winning type of basketball player and the only way he will help this team. With that said, last season Saunders was taking a point away for deep 2s in practice to deter the team from taking those shots, yet somehow Wiggins still managed to make it his favorite shot. Wiggins has always gotten bored on the offensive end when he's not the focal point with the ball in his hands, and he tends to stand around rather than working to get open on a cut to the rim or to the arc. He absolutely loves to shoot off the dribble which is his worst attribute offensively.

I'd love to see the Wolves make space for D'Angelo Russell even if that means cutting bait on Wiggins for pennies on the dollar. If he pans out, he could be an all-star, but he's been in the league for many years and that would typically suggest he is who he is by now. I hope I'm wrong and that we can get Russell, keep Wiggins and both pan out. I'm not optimistic on that, but that's my dream :)

No amount of development will turn Wiggins around for the same reasons Bol Bol fell to round 2.

If you're perceived to be someone who doesn't really like basketball, there's only but so much any team can do to fix you.

I think you hit on it, Wild. You have to really love the game to make it in the NBA and tap into your full potential. I'm not fully convinced that Wiggins doesn't like the game. But it doesn't look like his has a lot of passion for it.

Ryan actually said in one interview the biggest thing he found out about Wiggins last year was he liked to have the ball in his hands. I don't think the plan is to do the Thins off ball treatment with Wiggins. I think designing an offense where he and Okogie getting the ball on the move via dribble hand offs and things like that would be plenty interesting also. There are ways to get Wiggins involved without him just doing whatever he wants or having him have the ball in his hands a bunch. Whether the Wolves Wiggins and the coaching staff can actually put this all together (assuming Wiggins will still he on the roster) who knows but I do think Wiggins still have some abilities that could be taken advantage of by a smart organization even if he doesn't improve a lick. Dane Moore outlined this multiple times last season.

Interesting observation, Monster. I had forgotten that Ryan said that. My own view is that Wiggins can't be effective if he's handling the ball a lot. His handle is really bad and it has shown no signs of improving in his 5 full NBA seasons. So if he insists on not playing primarily off the ball, then he needs to go. He might need to go in any case. I'm still opposed to giving up a 1st round pick, Culver, Okogie or KBD to trade him this summer. I'd like to believe he can increase his value this upcoming season if used better. His contract looks better each year to other teams as it gets shorter. But if we can move him and get some decent value in return, then I'd be on board. For example, I'd trade him to Miami for Whiteside right now if Pat Riley somehow agreed to it.

Another way I would like to see Wiggins is few touches in the post. He has gotten owned down there BUT if they get him on the right mismatches he really takes it to guys.

Your idea that he is supposed to just play off the ball...hasn't really worked as Thibs basically had him do that already. Like I said let's get Wiggins and Okogie coming off actions where they receive the ball on the move toward the basket. Ryan said Wiggins should be attacking before the defense is set which is part of what so am saying. Part of that was Ryan wanting to play faster. Get the offense going so it's not a guy trying to just isolating against the defense. I don't want to get all "Wiggins can be awesome" or anything like that but if we did have him a track and and actually had some more shooting on the floor. That wouldn't hurt. I know we have chatted plenty about Teague but we can agree that the PG position hasn't exactly helped Wiggins a ton and the offense could help Wiggins and the PG (whoever that is) which could help everyone.

Just to be clear I'm not opposed to moving Wiggins this summer although i don't think it happens and I think it's worth keeping him for a few more months with one last probably mostly failed shot at getting something more out of him.

Earlier in his career Wiggins was actually quite effective in the low post. Then he was coached to start taking long 2's by Flip or create his own shot, both of which aren't his strength. Then Thibs completely took the ball out of his hands while Jimmy was here and made him stand motionlessly in the corner.

I would like to see Rosa and Co turn him into a Free and 3 player. Slash to the hoop and not settle for pull ups. He needs to be back to averaging 6 or more free throws a game. He's gone from averaging 7 a game in 2015/16 to 4 in 2018/19. That needs to change.
