I'm baffled by the respect David Adelman gets from JPete. To me it just doesn't make any sense. I know David Adelman. I watched him be a mediocre high school coach in Oregon before losing his job because he couldn't control his alcohol use. I just don't see what business he has being on an NBA bench, Don't believe everything you hear or read guys.

Sam Mitchell pretty much ignored his assistant coaches throughout every game. They all seemed really unhappy. I'll bet Thibs makes really good use of his assistants like all the top coaches do.

The reality is that right now Thibs has nobody else as assistants so if he likes any of these guys at all there is no reason to dismiss them and until the HC vacancies are filled those guys probably have no reason to look elsewhere. It's probably handy to have a couple coaches to help you do these workouts. I can't remember where I heard or saw it but it was reported the other day that Ryan was running one of the draft workouts and Thibs was just an observer. I guess you could take that as Ryan is safe or getting a tryout of sorts but everything points to him being retained. I could see Adelman maybe being a guy that is sort of an offensive mind on the staff. I don't know if any of the guys that worked with Thibs before were that type of guy either. Maybe Adelman isn't either but that's what I have gathered from what Jim Pete has said on air during broadcasts. I always wished someone would have done a scouting report on each of the coaches strengths etc but nobody really does that type of thing probably on some cases because they don't really know in great detail if the assistants aren't established guys.

I've often wondered if he has that alcohol issue straightened out. If so that could also have helped his coaching. I would also assume being a HC in HS is a little different type of gig than being an NBA assistant right?

Yeah, which one do you think takes more expertise?

I would think it's likely they are a very different skill sets.

Side Note: I was watching a guy teach some kids (assuming it was his kids or family) shooting drills at the YMCA today. The boy after drills I was watching him shoot and it was pretty nice very Curry-esque. The girl who looked at least a couple years younger he was passing her the ball and having her catching it basically in a shooting motion. It made me think back to Sam harping on Zach to catch the ball in triple threat position because he was in the habit of dribbling after receiving the ball limiting what he could do. I've often harped on guys I play with to be ready to shot and be shot ready so maybe it was a good drill for her but it was something to contemplate. I always think it would be fun to help people with their shot.
