Those exact reasons are why I'm still sour about how things ended with KG. We absolutely needed at least one more year with KG and a Prince type on this roster.

I think they need a veteran who can still play. A guy on the court who is showing them how it's done. A guy who can earn their respect by what he's doing... not what he's done... or yelling at them.

Certainly ideal. I don't think the Warriors get to where they are at without AI coming in and being that guy.

Couldn't he ultimately put aside some of his feelings for the good of the franchise and all these young players? Let's acknowledge there was likely some selfishness there by KG. That's all I'm moving on but that hit me the other day.

Honestly, I don't know what happened behind closed doors. So I don't know the particulars...
But let's just say that my employer basically told me that they didn't want me around... and would pay me to go away... I might take the hint.

Maybe. I think it had more to do with KG than his employer saying he didn't want him around.
Well, I think KG wanted to talk about ownership. Glen wouldn't talk ownership because KG was still a player and therefore technically couldn't talk to him and...um had a history of getting into trouble for promising things so was even more vigilant about not crossing that line. KG was already pissed about a few things some he probably had a legit reason to have a beef (Taylor's comments after they traded KG and not exactly dismissing Sam the best way they could have) so...then LG pretty much seemed to be like. Well now I know what Glen is all about etc (which is what he said a couple weeks ago...) and then basically decided he was gonna move on unless they gave him what he wanted. Again he hadn't said he was retired yet. There is plenty of talk from people like Jon K that were people that didn't want him around in the organization so yeah they didn't bend over backwards to keep him there. Think about this. KG throughout his whole career got his money and he left with his money too. All things considered KG for his career probably deserved to get his money but there was plenty of opportunities in the later point of his career he could have taken less. Nope, he got his.
Idk if you watched his Area 21 with the Boston reunion of guys or not. There was a story about some doctor that ate food before the payers and KG knocked the plate out of his hands and yelled the players eat first. It's kinda funny and sure if that's the rule you want to go by fine enforce it I guess but that's not really the best way to treat someone. My guess there were other instances like that too. Again...players first. KG has and had so many good qualities but there were clearly some negatives.
Again Glen isn't innocent but KG leaving and not being here is no less than 50% in my eyes. His lack of awareness and empathy for the rest of the organization that had lost Flip weeks and months earlier is astounding. I doubt he was even taking phone calls from Thibs and Layden. I think he was so pissed at Glen that that's all that mattered. The way he left honestly pisses me off a little. It's time to move on.

I'd never argue that Garnett was a great guy off the court. I don't think I'd argue that for anybody I don't know... especially a guy like Garnet with so many anecdotes out there...
... but to be fair, didn't he take two "paycuts?"
[Note: It's all relative. After all, he was still being paid more than this entire board might see in our collective lifetimes, but it's a possible sign that he might not have put money above all else in his career.]
