Ilyasova?
Good size veteran PF who can rebound and stretch the floor. I think I'd almost rather start Gorgui, but he could get us some depth for a decent price.
Here's the thing, with Thibs, I think we should either go big or go home when it comes to free agency. Unless a guy is a top 8 player on our team, Thibs ain't playing him. I wish he used a deeper bench, but as it is, getting a guy like Ilyasova wouldn't really help unless Thibs actually stretched out the rotations.

Dieng is an opportunist 3 point shooter and can hit them from the corners so he shoots a decent percentage. Could he shoot more? Probably. It felt like later in the season he spaced out and it was designed for him to be there. He has taken 70 3's his entire career and 43 of them were this year and he took 20 last year. It seemed like Thibs was more supportive of him taking 3's. Jim Peterson has mentioned multiple times how Dieng sometimes cuts to the wrong spots and spacing out to the corners could help the offense and give Wiggins and Towns more space. Who would have ever thought Part of Diengs value would be that slow wound up jumper that he can hit with plenty of accuracy?
Bjelica on the other hand is a volume 3 point shooter. Compared to Dieng he took 55 3's just in the month of November and he played around half as many minutes as Dieng. He sorta has the game of a decent shoooting guard but is 6'10". He didn't shoot it well enough from 3 this year but he has the range and can shot over lots of player plus he can put it on the floor and go to the basket. The problem with him is that foot surgery. When will he fully recover? Will that hamper him being in terrific shape? Will that hamper him from being in sync and playing well or will it keep him from playing well for quite a while? Idk hopefully they will have a decent idea of how he is recovering or recovered by draft time and when FA opens.

I have always liked him. Whether or not he plays or how much he plays probably would depend on Belly's health. Depending on who else is on the roster I think Illyasova would get minutes. He shoots 3's rebounds and doesn't suck on defense. He has been able to stay healthy the last couple years and thatbwas his biggest problem in the past. I'm not sure what kind of money it would take to get him but it seems unlikely he will be cheap. The Kings had to pay Anthony Tolliver 8 million a year to get him and Ersan is simply a better player and I'm a fan of both guys.

I'm not sure Ersan will come here after we sign Ibaka... :)

Ilyasova is a nice player, but Belly and Him do seem a bit redundant. I'd rather target Johnson or Patterson with that money as they provide a different skill set to our current bigs.
This imminent Melo trade opens the door to getting in on a 3 team deal as we can absorb salary that NY likely doesn't want.

Yes we can.
I've always said keep the core 3 but I'd send LaVine, our pick, and whatever else not named Rubio, Wiggins, or Towns in a second.

How is Patterson that much different than Illyasova and Belly? Which Johnson are you referring to?

Bjelica is capable of being a volume 3 shooter - a guy that can hit shots with a hand in his face from a variety of spots. I use the term "capable" because obviously this year he was not nearly the 3-point shooter we needed him to be. But he has the mechanics and release to get better.
I think of Dieng as more of a niche 3-point shooter, meaning he's not suddenly going to go Ryan Anderson on us. But yes, he should absolutely space out to the corner more next year and look for that shot when left open. He shot well over 40% on corner 3's this past season and he was 38% on corner 3's last year, so it seems sustainable. I think he is far less effective taking 3's "above the break", so I think he should be limited to spacing out to the corners.

Ibaka seems to be regressing even though he is still relatively young. And the trend started in OKC, so this is not just a "he needs a change of scenery" issue.
Year - PER/WS48
12-13 - 19.4/.181
13-14 - 19.6/.173
14-15 - 16.6/.127
15-16 - 13.9/.105
16-17 - 16.4/.101 (13.8/.085 with Toronto)
For how much he'd cost us, this trend is troubling.
