Posted this elsewhere... but figured I'd do so again. There is a solid to good chance that Isaac would be available. There's a great chance that Anunoby would be available. I think both are good complementary, defensive-oriented complementary pieces to Wiggins/KAT.

But it's conceivable Tatum drops as teams start pursuing top-notch PGs. know that if Tatum drops, it would seem like he'd be the guy and we'd all be very fortunate. But is he the best fit? Fortunately, the days/years/decades of me demanding that they draft BPA no matter what are over. The Wolves are "all in" on their foundation -- KAT and Wiggins. So now we complement them. The team was horrific defensively. There are two prospects who are projected to thrive on that side of the ball. Jonathon Isaac and Og Anunoby. By what I've read, Anunoby could be a league-wide difference maker defensively but he's incredibly raw. Isaac has the best chance of being a solid to good two-way player. Neither guy would be the flashy pick. But I think both offer something this team needs with length and defensive chops.

That being said... could the Wolves move from this spot here or swap picks with the Knicks. If still there... Tatum seems like a good Melo replacement. The Wolves can get a bit of value along with their more desirable pick.

As for the poll scenarios above... I'd do the Fultz/Crowder for Wiggins/pick in a heartbeat. Sadly... there's no chance Danny Ainge would.

We won 60 games over the last two years. I would hope we could find somone at #7 in a deep draft that could actually contribute on the court this year. It's not like we're the Celtics with depth at every position.

Agreed. I think Issac or Collins could give us as many minutes a night as Brown gives the Celtics.

The problem is that the guys typically available in the top 10 have one year of college experience and tend to struggle mightily, especially defensively, in their first couple of years. Unfortunately, our existing core isn't good enough yet to accommodate a rookie playing major rotation minutes. My guess is that Wildwolf's point, and I agree with him, is that we DO create much more depth this offseason by virtue of spending the $30M in cap room we have. Then let the rookie or rookies we draft develop slowly, including using our D-League team if necessary.

I like both these guys and would be OK if we drafted and kept either one. But don't kid yourself....both will be a liability on the court next year. I have no doubt in my mind. We can't afford to play either guy major minutes next season.

If Tatum falls, he's probably the pick. However, we'd likely receive a lot of calls for a trade. Maybe Sacramento trades up from 10. They take Fox at 5 and Tatum at 7?

For me, it comes down to Lauri Markannen and OG Anunoby. Markannen has a chance to be a special shooter and moves very well for a 7 footer. Anunoby is an NBA defender right now and could likely play the small ball 4 spot at times due to his length and strength. He's very raw, but Thibs may fall in love.

I want nothing to do with Isaac. I don't understand the love. He may be the biggest boom/bust pick in the top 10. He's an average shooter, he's not big enough to guard 4s, and not quick enough to guard 3s. He's actually not that athletic either. He's a total projection that will likely not contribute in the near future.

Give me the NBA shooter or the NBA defender. Not the guy who will take 3 years to even get on the court and who knows how good he'll turn out to be.

Just about all rookies struggle their first year in the league. But every year you have a small set of guys who make an impact, we've had a couple the last 3 years. There is a difference between playing a rookie major minutes and stashing him away in the D league. Why can't you bring a guy along slowly by ramping up his court time as it is earned? I don't see it as either you play major minutes right away, or you have to go to the D league. Maybe a guy like Isaac or Collins would get 10 minutes at the beginning of the year. You can both mature and contribute at a level of 10 minutes per night.

Yeah I think Isaac is gonna surprise people at how he will be able to be a do shit contributor on a limited basis in his rookie year. He isn't so raw that he needs to just spend time all year in the d-league. Should he spend a stretch of 5-10 game there at some point of the the Wolves have plenty of depth? Sure.

Jaylen Brown was considered very raw. He earned minutes as a key rotation player on a #1 seed.

He might play even more in the Conference Finals because of his size, length and ability on defense.

He's the Celtics "best hope" for LeBron James.

I'm kind of with you on Isaac, Brightside. I think he could be a halfway decent shooter, but I've got all sorts of concerns, starting with his incredibly skinny frame, which I think is really going to limit him at the next level and exacerbates a weakness for us as a team, because we already have a ton of guys who are not physical and are relatively easily pushed around the court by opponents. He also looks surprisingly slow when you watch those highlights. And while his length would definitely help him, I just don't see him being the defender that some people seem to project him as in part because of the size and what appears to me to be a little lack of quickness. Are there combine results on him that indicate lateral foot speed? From what I can tell, he can't touch a candle defensively to Josh Jackson or arguably to Anunoby. His handles are pretty good for a dude that long, and he does seem to be pretty crafty about protecting the ball, but even in his highlights I see him avoiding the contact on drives, and settling for long jumpers and fadeaway too much for my taste. For all you analytics guys, how many turnaround fadeaways and long 2 pointers are you willing to take in order to get his 3 pointers and occasional dunks and layups? I don't quite like the ratio I'm seeing (again, in the highlights, so I wonder if anybody has stats on the type of shots and spots on the floor he's taken). I like that he seems to have a bit of an all-around game, as opposed to Markkanen, but there's nothing there that really stands out to me and says, "hey, see this thing I can do, it's going to help me be really successful against NBA competition." Now if he improves in all areas, or really becomes an elite shooter, then he could really be an asset. But from what I can tell, that's a big IF.

Edit: Also, if you don't take the Jimmy Butler trade out of those options, you're crazy. The pundits would universally hail that as highway robbery and they'd be right. Chicago would never offer that deal. If they trade Jimmy Butler, it's gotta be for something better than the 7th pick. No way in hell they'd do that.
